The Love Guru

The more I see of this movie, the more I think I'll like it. I saw the second trailer a couple weeks ago, and then last night I noticed a TV spot with Jim Gaffigan and the one and only Stephen Colbert. Combined with Ben Kingsley (in this trailer) and comedy's latest rising star Justin Timberlake (?!), I'm looking forward to this.

Looks like it'll be a funny, fun, ride. The Adam Sandler Eastern European Hairdresser movie looks pretty funny too.

It's like the Summer of '97!

Two weeks in the theater and it'll go right to DVD and TBS.

Until they take creative control away from Meyers and actually write a SCRIPT, his movies will continue to stay far beneath his potential.

I think it looks kind of lame, though Adam Sandler's movie looks surprisingly better than I was expecting.

The Love Guru looks lame beyond belief. Not even teh hotness Jessica Alba is enough for me to watch. Zohan looks like it' gonna be funny.

Yeah, actually... It might be the first Adam Sandler movie I've actually thought of seeing in a theatre since "Happy Gilmore".

Zohan looks loads better than any of the recent Sandler comedies.

I disagree. Sandler gets plastered a lot but he did well in a lot of his recent movies IMO.

I've liked his dramatic stuff, but his comedies have IMO peaked with Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer. While I don't think his recent stuff is bad, it just isn't up that that previous level. "Zohan" is hitting a lot of the right spots for me compared to stuff like "Big Daddy" or the one where he is rich.

I'll go see it because I'm a Mike Myers fan. To me, the trailer looked funny. Not classic Wayne's World funny, but funny nonetheless.

I'm a big Mike Meyers fan, but the Love Guru trailer looked really weak to me. It seemed like a funny 10-minute sketch that probably shouldn't be stretched out into a full-length film.

That said, I thought the original Austin Powers looked lame, too, until I actually saw the movie and laughed my ass off for two hours. So maybe it will be better than expected.

I liked Happy Gilmore but I think it got vastly overrated as a great movie. the Wedding Singer was great. Personally, Sandler made good movies like Spanglish, 50 First Dates, Click, and I know I'm going to get killed but I Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and the Longest Yard. I enjoyed these and I thought they got a little too bashed because of Sandler's reputation.

Happy Gilmore is way over rated.

That movie was pure crap, IMHO, and the only "good part of it" was with Bob Barker. The rest of the movie is crap.

The more I see of it, the less excited I am, unless there's a certain "fun feel" Myers maintains throughout the entire film. But after his last few movies, I'm not optimistic.

One other part: At the end, when Happy wins, seeing Carl Weathers, the Croc who killed him, and Abe Lincoln waving at Happy from heaven was just absurdly stupid enough to stick with me.

Hm...yeah no. I like the Austin Powers flicks but this just isn't working for me for some reason. I'm gonna see Zohan instead.

It kind of looks good but with repetive Mike Myers bits that are growing tired...I saw the TV spot with Stephen Colbert as a Hockey Play By Play guy for Hockey Night in Canada (he must've loved that). Zohan (the Adam Sandler flick) looks funnier...

I agree with most of y'all....The Love Guru looks painfully bad and I have no desire to see it. Zohan I'll probably see though, the trailer makes me laugh.
