revisting VISITOR

And I don't mean the NANA variety, I mean the actual episode.

I watched The Visitor just last weekend, and that episode really hold up after all this time. The message about letting go from a man who never let go is strangely fitting...and Tony Todd hits another homerun here.

That final scene between Older Jake and Ben is very touching, especially when Ben realizes, as we already have, what Jake is planning on doing. And the way Tony delivers that line.."We're going to get....a second...chance" brought it all together at the end....

Two thumbs up to Michael Taylor, I think he wrote it, for writing a great episode. I recently had a poll in the General section as to which was better, The Visitor or TNGs Inner Light..I voted for The Visitor. Probably because I am a father myself...

Yeah, that delivery was heartbreaking. This scene is actually the only Trek moment where I shed a tear. But don't tell anyone. ;)

At first I was worried this would be another "Jake killed Jadzia" threads. Visitor is a very moving episode. I think Todd's performance as Jake outshined anything he ever did as Kurn. It would have been great to have him around as a regular cast member.

Yeah, I liked Kurn..but he was usually a co-star...in this one he pretty much is front and center and really gets to shine...he has the ability to play a heavy and, in this case, a softy quite well..

WHAT DO YOU MEAN JAKE KILLED JADZIA!?

Because in the alternate future in Visitor we see that Jadzia is still alive. So some people theorized that by saving his father, Jake caused the timeline in which Jadzia dies.

As O'Brien once said: "I hate temporal mechanics!"

Gotta be my favorite DS9 episode of all time. I'm a life long niner and this episode really moves me every time I see it. (It makes me tear up too SSHHH don't tell anyone) I also agree with the above poster that this beats out Inner Light. Of course I'm slightly biased. ;)

Well, from what I´ve understood Jake also killed all the victims of Dominion War. Get him!

No seriously, this is unfortunaly one of those ST episodes I haven´t seen yet but I must do it as soon as posssible.

You haven't seen this one yet? Wow...This episode is probably the best DS9 episode, though that is only my opinion. PALE MOONLIGHT ranks up there too...but The Visitor has a special feel to it..it wears its heart on it's sleeve

You know, only the first three seasons of DS9 were shown here, making it only Star Trek that didn´t get full czech version. I´m slowly watching rest of episodes thanks to the internet but I didn´t care about this one since I generally don´t like alternate timelines/possible futures (hear that All good things... and Endgame) but now I´m convinced it is worth of attention.

Just finished watching it there.. wow.. just wow.. I'm ashamed to admit but I cried like a baby for most of it. It just rang true so much, Jake becoming disconnected from the everyone else, everytime we saw Jake's reaction as his father reappears and the scene in the future Defiant where Jake loses his father again and Dax rushes over to comfort him - heartbreaking. I've never actually been this moved by a TV show before. Just outstanding.

It must be but I think this is one of the most overrated eps of ds9 .This one never gave me any emotions at all.
