Platos stepchildren
Interesting.
Turnabout Intruder
Hardly a bad one - just a bad season finale.
The Savage Curtain
Interesting, but not terrible.
The Way to Eden
Loathsome, but so was "Shades of Gray".
Spectre of the Gun
Fantastic episode. TOS's "A Fistful of Datas", aka, a western tribute.

.. It was much more than "Spocks Brain" that ruined this season. It's by far the worst season in all of Star Trek.
No, the worst season in all of Star Trek is ENT's second season. But thats me.

Truth is, TOS's third season is not as excellent as the first two, but its not terrible. As I said in another thread, anything TOS is still better than almost anything VOY or ENT.

TNG wins it for me, no question. The show found its footing, and it was some STRONG footing, too. DS9 was still warming up, but gets 2nd place. ENT's was fun, but it was still ENT and had all the usual problems It certainly didn't help that the whole ordeal was based on such a huge plot hole, i.e. why did the Xindi "test" the weapon on Earth before the main strike, thus alerting Starfleet to the threat? VOY S3 was all over the map but ended with a bang, and TOS was unfortunately running on fumes.

Yeah, it's just you. :p The worst is definitely TNG's first year.

I beg to differ.

TNG S1 was TNG's best year

most Trek like of all MT
What exactly makes TNG's first season more Trek than the rest?

I'd say ENT. I really enjoyed the Xindi arc, notably the excellent "Twilight", and everything from "Azati Prime" onwards was awesome

TNG season three is my favourite of that bunch. It has some excellent episodes including 'Yesterday's Enterprise', 'The Defector', 'The Offspring', 'Best of Both Worlds I' etc. It's when TNG finally hit its stride.

TOS season three, although not without a few great episodes, suffers from clunkers like 'Spocks Brain', 'And the Children Will Lead', 'Turnabout Intruder', 'Way to Eden (urggh)' etc.

TNG and Voyager had the best season 3. So many great episodes and stories, and while DS9 was decent, it doesn't come very close.

ds 9 gets my vote the defiant episode is one of my fave episodes liked the bell riot episodes too

DS9 and even Enterprise were good in season 3, but I have to give this one to TNG. This was the beginning of its prime.

I'll go with DS9 on this one. It's one of DS9's weaker seasons but still quite a bit stronger than any of the other show IMHO.

It's tricky, because four of the shows had strong third seasons. I'm going to go with TNG, though.

Why ? "The Defector", "Yesterday's Enterprise", "Deja Q", "The Best of Both Worlds", "The Enemy", "Booby Trap", "The Survivors", "Who Watches the Watchers ?", "The Offspring", "Alliegance", "Sins of the Father", "The High Ground", "Sarek" etc etc - that's why.

ST (original) s3 was troubled and had many big blunders in it, but still had plenty of greatness in it. One third great, one third shaky but good, one third bad. With Next Gen, the third may be their best season, but still, every other episode is frustratingly bland and unimaginative and mechanical.

Any DS9 season is pretty solid. This is the most consistently good third season, though there's no All Our Yesterdays, Tholian Web, or BOBW, or Yesterday's Enterprise.
