So I've had an iMac for less than a year now; it's going great apart from some minor bugs that aren't too frustrating. But the one thing that's getting to me is the scroll ball on my Mighty Mouse--the scroll ball that is apparently so gunked up it can't actually scroll up or down. Having done some research already, I know this isn't a unique problem. And having done that research, I've also found a couple of instructions on how to clean it... but they appear to be for a previous generation of Mighty Mouses (Mice?). The one I have isn't configured in quite the same way and it won't come apart the way described/shown. Can anyone help me out with figuring out how to clean the current type of mouse?

I use screen wipes - get one of the wipes, use it to roll the mouse wheel around in all directions. It just works. 
My iMac is also less than a year old (one of the aluminium ones), so I guess it's the same sort of mighty mouse. It is a bit annoying that they gunk up so easily though.

When my mice get that bad, I use a screwdriver and a damp cloth. There's no real risk in taking apart a mouse.I use screen wipes - get one of the wipes, use it to roll the mouse wheel around in all directions. It just works.

^That's what I've been trying. It seems to be made so you can't pry it apart (there are no screws that I can see on the Mighty Mouse).
ETA: Oh, and using the screen wipes in the manner you suggested, ymf77, didn't work. What's funny is I seem to be able to scroll sideways, but not up and down.
