What is your favorite ST book?

Luckyflux

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I have only read a handful of the pocket books, all of them from TNG. I did read the Millenium Trilogy which I think was DS9.

I very much liked those three books. I read them a few years ago, and only remember a handful of things, but I liked the different Warships they had. I liked the hidden chambers on Terok Nor. I liked what happened with the three prophets (or ancients, I can't remember what they were called).

It's funny, I don't remember them very much, but I remember that I enjoyed reading them.

My favorite of the Star Trek books is the Voyager book "The Black Shore" by Greg Cox. Well-written and so exciting that I couldn't stop reading until I've finished the book. All the main characters get their piece of the action and the main villains are very scary.

I've not read any of the newer books (must admit got quite a few old ones on audio tape) but the fave book I've heard/read would have to be crossover it gives a bit of filler for Spock's work on Romulus and it's always good when a story Had my favorite race in ,the romulans. though Vulcan's heart comes a close second both books get listened too pretty often I've listened to Vulcan's heart twice in a row it gives a bit of a insight into the loss of the enterprise c

Wow...good question..mmmmmmm...I haven't read many recently, but I still have fond memory of Diane Duanes (spelling?) Dreagnaught (spelling?) book and the other one that took place before it or after it. Did that female character appear in any other books?

I also liked Shatner's ASHES TO EDEN/RETURN books. And going way back, I liked Yesterday's Son and Devil in The Sky (Horta comes to DS9)

Great question..brought back many long time memories..

Rob

I haven't read many Trek books in the past couple of years, but I did pick up the Crucible trilogy by David R. George III and I enjoyed all three of those immensely.

I've not read many but I'd recommend:

-Serpents among the Ruins (covers the Tomed Incident and puts Harriman in a better light, and the Enterprise-B which had been very neglected on screen)

-The Romulan Prize

-Imzadi

-Rouge Saucer (I always thought Nechev was very underused and had so much wasted potential)

-Vendetta

I haven't really been able to get into any star trek books. I tried reading "Federation" but I became bored quickly. I have never liked reading novels based off of tv and movies because the characters never feel right. I would read a Star Trek novel if it had its own totally new characters but I really don't like any of them with the tv characters.

Q-Squared is brilliant, and I really wish it had been a movie. Trelane was always one of my favorite TOS villains, and Peter David handled him perfectly.

The TOS-era Vanguard series has totally new characters.

The Good That men do By Andy Mangels and Micheal A.Martin also Diane Duane's the Wounded Sky and Her Romulan series of books to name a few.

I read a lot and I've read dozens of ST books so far. The DS9 relaunch is very good, as well as the ENT relaunch.

I loved The Good That Men Do (ENT), Millennium (DS9), the Worlds Of Deep Space Nine books and the first book from that new Terok Nor trilogy, Day of the Vipers.

Very good, especially for people who ask questions about the inconsistencies regarding the Cardassian occupation presented in the show.

Also the Mirror Universe stories are quite good, for those who dig that of course. Well written, especially the one about Empress Sato.

The Trek novels I've most enjoyed reading are (in no particular order):

Fallen Heroes (early DS9)
Prime Directive (TOS)
Entropy Effect (TOS)
Price of the Phoenix and Fate of the Pehoenix (TOS - I know, so shoot me!)
Imzadi (TNG)
Dark Mirror (TNG)
Q Squared (TNG)
Killing Time (TOS)

I think I have more favourite TOS books than any other. I don't read the novels any longer.

James Blish, Spock Must Die!

John M. Ford, The Final Reflection

and for wackiness, (no belly laughs,) Barbara Hambly, Ishmael

In fairness you're asking what is our favourite Star Trel book and not just novel.

My favourite novel is James Blish's Spock Must Die!

My favourite Star Trek book is Stephen E. Whitfield's The Making Of Star Trek closely followed by Inside Star Trek by Robert Justman & Herb Solow.

I have read very few ST books. I agree with Riolozhikaik (whew, there's a name and a half). The characters rarely 'feel' right. I did find Q Squared to be a heck of a roller coaster ride, though.

BTW, can anyone list the correct sequence of the Shatner books about Kirk's return?

Q-squared is by far my favorite book. The Q-Zone trilogy is a good read as well. I also liked Shatner's Preserver trilogy.

Jeez, theres so many books that I like it's hard to single one out.
