I don't want to open a new thread for it so I guess this is the best place to discuss it:

Now that we had half a dozen of those contests I would like to know what you think about the format of the contest and if there's anything you might want to change.

(P.S.: Before anyone asks, no I won't change the max size restrictions, because it wouldn't be a TrekBBS avatar contest anymore if I did that.)

No, just kidding. I don't have an idea what could be changed. I like it the way it is.

But I actually had an idea for something else the other day and would like to hear your thoughts on it: Why don't we have an avatar contest in the General Trek forum? Much like the General Sci-Fi & Fantasy contest. There'd be only one theme and I guess many people would enter. On the other hand, we already have many contests now. (Almost too many to enter them all, if you ask me.) I don't know. The TOS, TNG, VOY and ENT contests are running pretty good. But the DS9 contest has become a bit slow which somehow makes me sad.

It would be worth a try, I guess. Although I see what you mean about having too little time sometimes (and I only do the cheap, relatively fast to assemble avatars in contrast to the time consuming avatars you create.)

Yeah, I've noticed the decline of entries in the DS9 contest, too. I just hope it's not a side effect of the fact that two new trek contests have popped up over the last few months (this one and the TOS one). Maybe we should do a little cross promotion, ala "If you like the TOS/TNG avatar contest, you might want to enter the DS9 contest , too." with a link to the current contest each week.

Interesting idea; but ultimately it'd be rehashing the same ground covered in greater detail by the other contests, would it not? Well, except for the movies... and I guess they're too limited a field to have an avatar contest of their own.

How about an an avatar contest a la SF&F in General TV & Media? Whole slew of subjects out there. Just a thought, at any rate... perhaps not the right place to air it; but, a thought...

On a related note: I just want to point out that as long as a movie avatar contest doesn't exist, images from the four TNG movies are fair game for the Theme category. If there ever is one I might change that "rule", though.
