Internal affairs takes a special interest in Detective Green after a gambler is found dead by his bullet and the investigation turns up a part of his past he's taken pains to conceal.

This is Jesse L. Martin's final episode and based on both the description and the commercial I saw last night during Special Victims Unit, it's going to be big.

This will also be Antony Anderson's first appearance as Detective Kevin Bernard, who is a different character from the one he played on Special Victims Unit a couple of years back.

Wow, I had no idea he'd be leaving. I'll have to try and remember to catch this one.

Yeah, it was announced a couple of months ago, during the writers' strike.

Hmmm... an out-of-nowhere past that pops up conveniently because they don't like to develop characters on this show.

Will it end with him getting fired and asking, "Is it because I'm a lesbian?" :p

Well, in earlier seasons (back when he was partnered with Jerry Orbach), Martin's character was depicted as a pretty heavy gambler.

Right and tonight's episode explained that he went back to gambling after Briscoe died. Makes perfect sense to me.

Great send off for Green. I liked how he didn't begrudge Lupo for digging up evidence in his case and thanked him for being a good cop. They even leave the door open for Green to return, even if it's just as a guest star.

Is Anthony Anderson going to be on the show for an indefinite basis, or is this just a short, set stint for him? If the former, I may actually start watching the show on a regular basis, rather than catching the occasional episodes in first-run and syndication.

Re: Law & Order: "Burn Card" (spoilers) - Jesse L. Martin's final epis

From what I recall, he's there for an indefinite basis. He is Jesse L. Martin's replacement.

Re: Law & Order: "Burn Card" (spoilers) - Jesse L. Martin's final epis

Excellent. In that case, I'm in. Anderson was amazing on The Shield.

As for this episode itself: Since I don't really have much familiarity with the character, I can't really comment on Martin's departure. Everything about the episode was just fine, but, eh... it's L&O, so it's not like character development is a big concern for this show.

I liked it, a pretty cool episode. There have definitely been better episodes, but it was nice to watch and didn't try to do too much. A nice send of for Jesse L. Martin.

I didn't watch it, I'll watch it on hulu or NBC.com sometime.

Re: Law & Order: "Burn Card" (spoilers) - Jesse L. Martin's final epis

So if TNT ever did another first-and-last episodes of every character marathon, how long would that take? :)

Excellent! I was hoping that would be the case. It seemed obvious based on his character's set-up.

Re: Law & Order: "Burn Card" (spoilers) - Jesse L. Martin's final epis

one small nitpick:green was on leave and surrendered his weapon after the shooting, later, with no mention of re-instatement he surrenders both his weapons to his capt.

Jesse Martin's leaving? In the UK, the late Jerry Orbach is still starring.

NBC has been runnin' promos for the last three week's, lettin' folks know that last night's episode would be Jesse Martin's final Law & Order.

As for the episode itself, I just had it on in the background while I was workin' 'round the apartment, but what I caught was pretty good. I set the VCR to record it, so I can actually watch it tomorrow or Saturday.

It was an okay episode. Not at all bad, but nothing that knocked me over either.

Two different surrenderings. The first was immediately at the scene; Green gave his gun to the patrol supervisor, as per standard procedure. They must have cleared him initially, then (when he was formally charged), he had to give up both guns to IA.

I love it when someone else states what I was going to say. I thought it was a great send-off Green. Everyone was spot on tonight. That said...I'm going to miss him. :(
