Anyone Want to Help Design a Starship?

I'm engaging in a collaboration with another TrekBBS member to collaborate on a fanfiction story that we'll post here. It's the usual new ship/new crew type of thing, set at about 2390, with a ship that uses quantum-slipstream technology. We've tossed around a couple crudely drawn concepts, but nothing seems to be what we have in mind. Would anyone be interested in joining our team to help us design a new ship for our adventures?
I apologize if this kind of question is one of those taboo things on this forum. Maybe it's just understood that everyone does their own thing, I don't know. But hey, it's worth a try; I only wish that I had the artistic talent that many of you possess (and a copy of Photoshop would also be nice). I can do crude drawings in MSPaint, so don't think that I won't do what I can to contribute (though the offering will be humble), and the other writer actually does have Photoshop.

Sure, I'd be willing to toss my hat into this. I'm juggling work, school and a semblance of a social life, but I've been wanting to start a ship design project that ended up as more than a couple sketches and a half-finished digital ortho. I'll post a few examples of my work in a few.

When it comes to drawing ships, I'm more of a Pre-TOS era guy myself.

I would love to help too but I'm trying to get my own series together as it is. I'm going to do probably both a fan fic and probably tie in a comic or 2 as well. I posted on the fan fic forums a while back about it, but never got a respond's to it.

Hey Flux, those ships are really neat, but to be honest, not quite what I had in mind. I should've said so, but we were looking for something more along the type of the Constitution and Sovereign classes.
I just checked my mail, and my writing partner sent me another sketch that he made. I really like this one, but right now it's just an outline. I've sent him a PM asking if he feels proficient enough to do the details or if he wants some help. Flux, from those samples, it's abundantly clear that you're good at detail work, if my partner wants the help, would you be willing to help us fill it out?

Taking another look at that Valkyrie class image, it almost looks like it was originally drawn in pencil. If it was, my hat's off to you, Sir. That's very good.

Yep, both the first Valkyrie image and the NX-01 era Miranda class were done freehand with pencil and then scanned into Photoshop and colored and shaded. Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you liked them.

Go ahead and PM or email me what you've got and I'll definitely try my hand at detailing it up and maybe giving some alternate versions if you'd like.

Okay, so I blocked in a basic shape last night and this is what I came up with based off of RookieBatman's silhouette.

I've run it by RB and I'm going to make some alterations, as I went a little too "sleek" with this one. Once I get a handle on where he'd like it to go I'll make the changes.

I think you slightly overdid the engine hull undercut, other than that it looks good.

Here's something a little radical. I'm not even sure if I like it, but this is an attempt at keeping the silhouette while keeping it as sleek as possible. I also lowered the engines a touch and made the hull cut out slightly less steep.

Why not try this? The Erie-Class. A Sovereign-Class / Intrepid-Class experiment based on the U.S.S. Voyager's illusiory "Dauntless".

Well, just so you guys know, my writing partner was faced with issues of Real Life (the most potent enemy of fanfic writers, since it is also the most reasonable), and so he's no longer able to work on the project. I hadn't any interest in doing a fanfic by myself, so I'm ducking out, too. I've told Flux through PM that he can continue to develop the ship any way he wants, and my hat's off to his exceptional artistic ability. (By the way, I think that saucer section is amazing.)
