They look similar enough that you could believe they were related, like cousins or something. But no one is going to be confused as to who is who, which is which. Which is who, who is which?

Should've gone to Specsavers. :-)
Uncanny though? Really?
I suppose if we are talking in very broad strokes, as in: they are both male, caucasian, dark haired, two eyes and so on, sure... I'll grant they have a similar mouth, but that's it.
When the Vampire Diaries was going on, there was no discourse about Wesley looking like Carrey. It's a lazy comparison that seems to have gained traction after he put a yellow shirt on for Star Trek.
Even if I'm to concede that they look in any way similar, there are people who say the performance puts them in mind of Carrey and that *is* total bullshit.
Today's thought that MUST BE QUASHED: two men looking alike. TrekBBS TrekBBSing.Uncanny though?
Bollocks.
They look very similar to me. But I grant I don't have whatever emotional baggage you clearly are carrying over the comparison.

The needlessly defiant and one-sided arguments will continue until morale improves.I don’t understand why this has gone on as long as it has.
Because I'm not allowed to say they look similar, so it rolls on because people come back and tell me I'm not allowed to think it.
People need to get some fucking perspective. Touch grass is that what they kids say these days? I know Trek fans love to debate small things, but trying to even use the word "debate" in this context is pushing it.
Wesley gives off more a Sixties leading man vibe...
I love the fact that you're entering a 'debate' with people losing it over if two men look alike, to then use AI... I personally don't care but I feel the two sides will still be holding their pitchforks and flames and turn from each other and to you the outsider who's walked into town...because if there's one thing members hate more than spurious actor comparisions, it's AI...Here's what Google AI says, FWIW:
While standard commercial facial recognition systems (like Amazon Rekognition or Microsoft Azure Face API) generally do not flag Paul Wesley and Jim Carrey as the same person, algorithmic comparisons typically yield a moderate facial similarity score (roughly 60% to 70%) depending on the specific photos, lighting, and expressions used.
There's something there for everybody.

So you probably have united people, just now how you think!
(Also as one further aside, Gemini is the most full of shit AIs and I like "algorithmic comparisons typically yield a moderate facial similarity"... I mean is this is a common enough test to even use the word typically?)

No. Not even close. Having someone tell you they don’t interpret the images as you do is in no way, even indirectly, synonymous with “I’m not allowed to say they look similar.” It’s an absurd assertion. Your opinion is not being suppressed nor erased (it’s still there for all to see). It’s being challenged. That is not in any way an infringement of your rights or privileges. It’s a difference of opinion. Full stop.Because I'm not allowed to say they look similar, so it rolls on because people come back and tell me I'm not allowed to think it.
I mean, there's double standards around. If a popular poster puts something about AI, no one will care, and I'm not seeing any negative reactions around here over it yet. If I or maybe even you posted about AI, you bet the insults and denigrations would start coming. You can point out the double standards, etc. but at some point you're not going to change a group mentality. I've tried before when I got attacked over not having a Paramount subscription, getting falsely called a racist over a comment on Klingon makeup etc.I love the fact that you're entering a 'debate' with people losing it over if two men look alike, to then use AI... I see you're already getting the rolling eye emoji and all that. Don't point out the double standards, the personal attacks, etc. even if you're right (and you are). It's not worth it, just run. This post itself will likely get a few mocking emojis etc. right on cue. I'm only posting this to warn you.

I would say, people should just be prepared to defend opinions on their merits rather than defending them by counterattacking someone else's opinion. If someone is plainly wrong, you can simply demonstrate that with justification of your own points. The other point is that you don't have to prove everyone else wrong to have a valid opinion.I mean, there's double standards around.
