Things that frustrate us all

Curious of the impact of this gender swap. So it appears that the allegorical Jesus is a woman in the new Narnia film.

Cool, I didn't even know the director of Barbie was doing a Narnia adaptation.

Let's take a franchise that is fairly conservative and gender swap bible characters.

Then, this begs the question: who is this for?

Half of the US is conservative. There should be conservative media for them.

An adaptation of a British book series by a global entertainment giant. Maybe they are thinking about more than just the American market?

If I ever get Netflix again, I'd totally watch it.

Honestly, I'm well past sick and tired of the conservative "backlash" any time a woman or minority is cast in anything.

I'm in general not a fan of either race swapping or gender swapping. Most of the time it doesn't work. The few times that it does work doesn't make up for all of the failures.
Sometimes it needs to happen, a lot of older media didn't acknowledge that women and people who aren't exist, either on purpose or just because they didn't think of it. But it actually does now, updated versions of things should reflect that. There are plenty of characters out there that a not dependent on being a specific gender or race, so I don't see the harm.

I'm sorry but I really need to vent and this is the only place I have to do it.
My mom has really started getting on my nerves, she massively overreacts any time I have any kind of a negative reaction to anything. One of the big ones is vacuuming. I always watch streaming shows in the morning, and apparently once or twice I did something that she interpreted as being annoyed, so now acts like it will be the worst thing that ever happened if she vacuums while I'm out in the living room. I've tried to apologize and explain that, but every time she just goes off on a rant about how horrible it will be, but I never reacted even close to that badly. She does this constantly over anything I have even the slightest negative reaction to, or just a reaction that isn't really negative but thinks is.

Why do current film makers hate colours? That's something I really struggle to understand.

I am watching two older series at the moment ("Star Trek TNG" and "Lost"). They both have natural bright colours. The colours make them more realistic, more pleasant to watch and easier to remember. Colours simply make a lasting impression.

New series and films are all dark, with gray, brown and green filters. It doesn't matter what they try to represent - everything is always gloomy, tiring to watch and often - forgettable.

Sometimes series and films are so dark that they are unwatchable. Not to mention the sound that keeps changing from screaming to whispering. I constantly have a mouse or a remote controller in my hand and keep pressing volume up, volume down. It's so exhausting.

We have a much more advanced technology nowadays, but everything looks as if they have just discovered the sound and colors.

A lot of the shows in the 90s were filmed at night, so they're especially grainy.

I'm watching FlashForward now, and it has a yellowness to the video. I see the same thing in 24. This has to be by design.

Yeah, I don't think it's quite as bad now, but for a while back in the '00s or '10s it seemed like every show had some kind of colored filter applied to everything. CSI: Miami was one of the worst, they had a weird yellow filter over the whole thing.

Yep but I watched because it was hammy and at times fun.

I watched it for a while, but it started getting ridiculous and over the top and at the time that bugged me. I've thought about giving it another go, because I lot that kind of stuff a lot more now than I used to.

Got to love credit unions. Live in a more rural part of the US and have some chickens as well as my grandmother in law in a separate dwelling under hardship permit from the county. Looking at refinancing our home and use some of the equity. Current credit Union said, "Nope. Call us when you get rid of the chickens and the other temporary dwelling is gone."

I was BORN with congenital cataracts. I had my natural lenses broken up via needling and had to wear glasses because of that, but in 2007 got lens implants so that I didn't need heavy glasses, only light ones for distance and slightly thicker ones for reading.
MIne affected my night vision. I hated driving at night, but I see much better after the last replacement.

Technically this might be kind of goodish news, but since I've been posting about my medical issues here I'm post here.
It turns out I might.... might... not have developed a new allergy and all my issue might still be due to corn. I found what I've come to think of as hidden corn, things like dextrose and maltodextrin, are in some of the food I've been eating. One is the Mac & Cheese, which it turns out has less than 2% maltodextrin, I think I did see that when I first started getting it, but I figured it was a tiny bit so it wasn't going to hurt me. What I didn't think about was that I'd be eating it 2 or 3 times a week, and then possibly accidently eating stuff where I overlooked other corn based ingredients when I was checking. It's not definite, but it's a possibility. It's really frustrating because there are a whole bunch of things like that, that we had no idea were corn we did research on the internet. The other thing that drives me crazy is when they list like 3 or 4 possible ingredients in one entry.

The third episode of FlashForward showed up as a purchase while the rest of the season is available with Prime. The DVD is no longer in print, and one source I found for it has the episode missing 6 minutes. This is super frustrating. I'm going to wait a bit to see if Amazon sorts this out.
