Not bad this episode. But such a cliche to have Una be mistaken for someone who looks and sounds exactly like her. This kind of writing trope went bye bye long ago.

7.

It was interesting and I loved the look. Though I didn’t dig their Kor and the Mind Sifter made me chuckle for the wrong reasons.

And? Variations of the Doppelgänger Trope are still being used.
My argument was that Una landing on a planet and being instantly mistaken for someone else that looks just like her was a tired and cliche trope. I'm not bashing the doppelganger concept.

The episode was OK. Being in black and white made it a different experience than a typical Star Tek episode. The writer of the first season TNG episode "The Big Goodbye" wanted the holodeck scenes in the episode to be in black and white. He didn't get his wish but they used that concept later in Voyager. and now we get a full black and white episode.

This season has felt like more of the same to S3 (which I did not like) and seeing the discussion and set up of this episode I was expecting something not that engaging, but I really enjoyed it. It was a nice artistic endeavor seeing things in black and white, I loved the contrasts. It ended up playing a minor part in the story where it was used on Uhura (though that didnt go anywhere). I liked the parallel of the crew having to trust that Una will make the best decision and her doppelganger being in complex relationships where people are putting their trust in her despite wearing many faces.

I was fine with suspending my disbelief until she managed to fool facial recognition software and I was just taken completely out of the story for a second. But otherwise it was fine.
