I still don’t really believe he’s from over here.
I never gave it any thought. Not sure why so many people are concerned about sexuality. I care more about the sci fi stories and writing not about specific social constructs that make people feel better. I watch star trek for smart science fiction, action and adventure. Something I can think about, analyze later, nitpick and debate. Sexuality and relationship stories in star trek I've never really cared about. They're boring and a waste of time. SNW Spock is not nearly as interesting as ST Spock. I hear more about SNW Spocks relationships than his work as a starfleet officer. I like Spock when hes coming up with solutions to problems not hearing about who he's dating.

I'm British and I thought it was a fake accent too. He also sounds nothing like someone from Leicester.
But in that vein Patrick Stewart sounds hundreds of miles away from Yorkshire.
The comics aren't the shows. Two different things.

I spent the first 18 years of my life in the Greater Boston area. I can, if I want to, slip into the regional accent with ease. But you’d be very hard pressed to guess where I grew up just by listening to me speak with my usual voice. I don’t think it’s at all unusual of Stewart, especially with his job experience.

Maybe he just didn’t get his RP quite spot on.
I haven't been able to find it, but I remember reading an article in a magazine (might have been Sci Fi Universe) that mentioned Braga's massive pornography collection.
Berman came across as an old-fashioned sexist and homophobe. Braga seemed like more of a creep. The fact that he and Jeri Ryan started dating while the show was on the air and Ryan started becoming the de facto star of the show also suggests poor judgement.
Although I take your point, I have to say that dating Jeri Ryan doesn’t suggest poor judgement…
I can see the appeal, but dating someone who effectively works for you is a minefield. I can’t help but wonder if he had the same in mind for Jolene Blaylock.

And while I can't find the original source for this, I do remember reading about it at the time. Braga's comments about wanting to crawl into the vagina of a 50 foot woman have stuck with me for over 20 years.

Taking Roddenberry's legacy a bit farther, I guess. Susan Sackett's book Inside Trek: My Secret Life With Star Trek Creator Gene Roddenberry talks about, among other things, Roddenberry in his hospital bed late in life trying to get her to do certain things for him that the average person probably doesn't expect to do in a hospital.
I don't know, but she was a similar type to Jeri Ryan lookswise before the Vulcan hair and makeup, and they had her dressed almost the same way, so it's hard not to wonder what the guy was thinking.
