News Exclusive: Scott Bakula Eyeing Star Trek Return In President Archer Series Pitch From ‘Enterprise’ Producer

for cringe in the decon chamber, nothing tops the episode where the virus triggers T’Pol’s Pon Farr. She’s basically grinding herself on the floor and begging Phlox to…uh…assist her.

It’s embarrassing to watch.

Yeah. Thats the one I was thinking of. It is really embarrassing. Braga really pushed that stuff. Luckily it wasnt in every episode. He nearly wrecked the whole show with the decon garbage.

Titillation is one of the easiest writing to understand. Sex sells.

I don't get it. When I first heard of the decon chamber it made sense. The transporters of that time period didn't have bio filters yet. So a decon chamber made perfect sense. The light obviously kills off any alien bacteria and other organisms and germs. The gel itself makes absolutely no senses. First the people never cover all the skin because of clothing. So if the gel is absolutely necessary they can easily contaminate the crew from the areas that the gel didnt cover. Plus everyone dipping in the gel is another issue that causes problems with other human bacterial contamination that the gel might not cover. Individual shower stalls with the gel material mixed with water would be much more hygenically safe and would decon the person fully. Each person would also have privacy in the individual stalls. Fresh clothimg would be hung outside the stall. Instead we get these silly scenes that mean nothing. They also leave with greasy soiled clothing. Its disgusting. They nearly ruined the show with the decon scenes. Even for today they seem shocking.

I just wish it had been good titillation.

It was pretty sloppy and disgusting.

Also it was only ever men massaging women and women massaging women. Male homoeroticism of Trip slathering Archer's back too much for them?

That was not the demographic UPN was aiming for. 18-25 year-old horny hetero guys would not have liked that at all. :)

A chunk of them probably would have liked it but got very angry about the fact that they did.

Reed and Hayes clearly wanted to do the horizontal monster mash. Reed just couldn't break out of his traditionalist family closet before Hayes up and died.

Reed wasn't gay. He had a thing for T'pol.

He had a thing for her bum, which is a stepping stone to getting rolled by transvestites on Risa.

When they met a hundred Year old Enterprise that had been lost in time, and crawled back to present day the long way, Reed asked to see the innumerable Reeds packing the Rafter's on Captain Lorian's Enterprise.

Nadda.

Ehh, I always read a bit of a bit of a queer/bisexual vibe from Reed myself.

I never did. He did leer at tpol a lot.

Because it's not logical within the world. It's meant to excite young men and use titillation the way Trek has since Theiss.

That is it's purpose. The decon is just justification.

Thats why it was so dumb. It made no sense. The entire decon process was completely wrong. Excite young men? For what reason? Shouldn't they just make good star trek stories? They could easily had made a proper decontamination process. They really dropped the ball. Those scenes were and still are an embarrassment to star trek.

Sex sells. That's it. That's all the depth. People like sex.

And Star Trek cannot be embarrassed.

Never cared enough about Reed to worry about which side of the plate he batted from.

Though, in all honesty, I don’t think I even need one hand to count the number of Trek characters where I did care.
