Now, we're going to get into a REALLY HEADY TOPIC now. The sort of thing that needs to be settled, decades later after the show aired.

How do you say Star Trek: The Next Generation?

I ask this because the original trailers back in season one always had a pause where the colon is then put emphasis on the word Next.

I was watch the All Good Things Documentary - and of course by this time seven years had passed - but Jonathan Fakes did similar.

I just pronounce it as one sentence, no pause, no emphasis.

I am the same as you. If I am saying the full name, and not just abbreviating it as "TNG" or "Next Gen," I say it as if it were one sentence with no pauses and no emphasis on specific words.

There's a pause between 'Trek' and 'The'.

Its definitely not a dramatic pause, more of a brief chance for someone to interrupt.

Which is an absolutely fair and accurate point about how the English language is supposed to work in written form, but in practice I don't believe very many people actually pronounce it that way.
