Spoilers Maul - Shadow Lord Animated Series

The backstory and politicking around Maul's dalliances with the underworld is extremely unwieldy at this point, but at a certain point, the specifics don't really matter much.

I'd basically given up on animated SW content (except "Visions"), but I watched the first two episodes and think it's fairly solid.

I honestly can't tell if the show is just okay at best (so far of course, only two eps in after all!) or if I'm just still in a bit of a disinterest spell with Star Wars.

I'll stick with it, but no real excitement for me yet.

I'm curious if this goes up to Maul's time as head of Crimson Dawn if we might see Dryden Vos and Qi'ra at some point?
Well we saw Dryden very briefly in Clone Wars Season 7, so they're already acquainted. So I imagine we'll see him soon if he's trying to wrangle his assets back under his control.

Edit
Future spoilers
apparently some low res character posters from somewhere were leaked and one of them features Dryden

Random and fairly inconsequential detail I noticed on a rewatch: they seem to have changed the animation assets for the Mandalorian blasters to more closely match their live action appearance.

I just find it interesting since this is the second instance I can think of where a design that originated in animation has been translated into live action, then had said live action version re-translated back into animation (the other being the T-6 shuttle.)

Now I'm curious to see if the same will hold true for similar things, like say the darksaber, if it shows up at all (yes, I saw it in the promo they posted the other day, but that's a custom render, not something from the actual show!)

I know it isn’t but it really should be Vader on that ship. His whole job is to hunt down force sensitive users and Mail is exactly the sort of person that warrants his attention. I truly hate the invention of inquisitors.

To me it’s what know what happens in Rebrls that dampens my excitement of it. I get his death is very fitting but I still think they could have done way more with the character.

It's a big galaxy, and Vader can't be everywhere at once. Between Rebels and Kenobi we've seen that he only shows up when things have escalated to a point where it'd be worth his attention . . . or if it even remotely involves Kenobi.

For example: chasing down a lone Padawan like Caleb Dume or Cal Kestus is not worth his involvement. That's what Inquisitors are for; grunt work and beating the bushes. Now if a Caleb Dume or a Cal Kestus actually manages to kill an Inquisitor, then it'd be worth a closer look, which is exactly what happens.

Also; Inquisitors have been a thing in lore since the old TTRPGs, though their most prominant Legends appearance is probably 'Dark Forces II'. Filloni just made them more organized and actually make some sense.

As for what's going on on Janix: if Vader showed up for every possible lead regarding Maul, then that's all he'd be doing. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if Palpatine deliberate keeps the two apart, since the last thing he needs is the two of them getting ideas about overthrowing Sidious together. That said, the only time we've ever seen the two in the same place at the same time was on Malachor, and Maul clearly had no intention of facing Vader if he could avoid it, so there's every chance the two have already clashed . . . possibly on Janix. We'll have to wait and see!

I'm assuming the Inquisitor introduced in Ahsoka is on the Star Destroy since we already know he's supposed to be involved at some point.
This was another great two episodes.
I know the whole cop who has to leave his kid's game because of the job is an old cliche, but it was still a nice bit of character development for Lawson.
It looks like the stuff with Maul and Devon is going to have a bit more of a slow build up than I was expecting.
The whole conflict between Lawson and Two-Boots over calling the Empire was unexpected, but gave us some nice drama between them.
The actions scenes in both episodes were great.

I honestly expected Eeko-Dio-Daki to die in this episode, regardless of Dennis Haysbert's involvement. I guess it's too early turn Devon and his death will happen at the end of the season.

My heart broke at seeing Lawson and Two-Boots falling out about the latter's insistence on bringing in the Empire. I hate to say it, but Two-Boots has a point and Lawson couldn't stand a chance against Maul, even with two hidden Jedis, which he didn't even know about until the very end of the fourth episode!

Nice twist about Lawson's ex-wife. I (and I'm sure others) thought she was dead but I love the idea of a former lover working with the Empire, on the opposite side of a local lawman. If she ain't on that Star Destroyer, I'll eat my entire hat collection. And to boot: I find that dynamic far more interesting than an unnecessary appearance from Vader or even the inevitable Inquisitor.

Well obviously we know she's not around to be Maul's apprentice by the time of Rebels, so even if she does fall, she won't be sticking with Maul.

She has however jumped to the top of the suspect list of "people that may have stranded him on Malachor", right next to Qi'ra and Rook.
