Re: Law & Order: "Undercover" (spoilers) & preview for upcoming episod
This was an excellent episode with a strong return from the long hiatus. The "uncover cop in a correctional facility" plot worked a lot better in this episode than it did in the Criminal Intent episode where Goren went undercover to uncover abuse (although that episode was pretty good, too). It worked better because the threat had an additional element that wasn't a factor in the other case: rape.
Speaking of rape, during the first close call, I actually thought Olivia would be raped, until the correctional officer foolishly uncuffed her. The second close call I knew it wouldn't happen, even though because of the nature of that close call, it was certainly more traumatizing.
One thing I especially loved about this episode was seeing the prison life but from the perspective of undercover cop. I recently watched the entirety of Oz (which coincidentally starred three members of Special Victims Unit) and it dealt with undercover cops a couple of times, but not in this nature (both of them were investigating drugs, not rape and murder).
