Another, "Cargo to Calisto", became the basis for the "Star Trek" episode, "By Any Other Name".
Oh? That's the first I've heard of that. Also, I didn't realize there was a Bixby story named "Mirror, Mirror." I'd only been aware of "One-Way Street" as an ancestor of the TOS episode.
You resurrected a 14 year old thread which is not in keeping with board rules. It would have been better to start a new one. It has generated significant new discussion though so we’ll leave it open.I acquired a few TNG scripts and this 10-page outline was one of them. A few pics are up on Memory Alpha. I don't know if a full script of Broken Mirror exists.
I msged that dude about buying it but it had sold. There's a photograph of what appears to be the script for "Broken Mirror" on eBay. Or, at least, its cover page.
Could he give any info on it?I msged that dude about buying it but it had sold.
Sorry, but I didn't see it as a problem. You can see a little more info here: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wik..._The_Next_Generation_episodes#"Broken_Mirror"You resurrected a 14 year old thread which is not in keeping with board rules. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. My copy of the anthology arrived yesterday!
From the Introduction by Emerson Bixby: "Dad and I also wrote a sequel to Dad's "Mirror, Mirror", which will hopefully be included in this book..." [It isn't, sigh.] "Taking place in TNG's time, "Broken Mirror" posed the question, what if Kirk and Scotty screwed up 70 years ago when they returned from the Mirror Universe? What if they left the door to both Universes open, and matter from each universe has been seeping into its opposite? What if a bearded Vulcan begins tracking down the original landing party in an attempt to prevent both universes' destruction? Roddenberry loved it, but at the time Shatner was misdirecting 'Trek V' and his fee for a five minute cameo just wasn't feasible. Bummer." [pp 11-12.]
Well as I said I am the one who acquired it, feel free to ask anything.Could he give any info on it?
Could you give a break down of the basics? Plot, continuity to TOS. What is the TNG mirror universe like? Do they mention any historical moments between Mirror TOS ENTERPRISE and Mirror TNG ENTERPRISE?Well as I said I am the one who acquired it, feel free to ask anything.
The synopsis posted by Therin sums it up nicely. The original landing party in TOS accidentally "left the door open" between the two universes, and it's causing ripples that are destroying the universe. Spock II goes around attacking Scotty, McCoy, Kirk and mindmelding with them to look for answers. This leaves their brains momentarily void of all information. I can't see them ever having the budget to film this, for the story only Spock is really needed. Spock II needs more information how to fix the situation, and who better to mindmeld with than Spock I, who has put it all together himself after being questioned by Picard and arrived on the Enterprise.Could you give a break down of the basics? It has aliens who've take over some people's bodies, so kinda sorta like the Kelvans adopting human forms, but that's about it. I'd never in a million years have thought it had anything to do with "By Any Other Name". Even calijg it "inspired by" seems like a giant stretch, but then again, "One-Way Street" is much more like TNG's "Parallels" than TOS's "Mirror, Mirror".Okay, I'm curious to hear how "Cargo to Callisto" relates to "By Any Other Name," and what the 1954 "Mirror, Mirror" story is about. (Also, does "The Bad Life" have any connection to "It's a Good Life," or is it coincidence?)
Well that was totally unnecessary and smacks of sour grapes that this story didn't get done and blames Shatner for some of that.My copy of the anthology arrived yesterday!

IIRC, according to a youtube video I watched, he got to do V only because Nimoy did IV and starred in it. Since Nimoy directed III but only had a cameo appearance, it didn't trigger the clause. But who knows, the youtube video author could have been wrong.Because Nimoy had directed two movies, Shatner wanted to do the next two. He didn't end up insisting upon doing ST VI.
