Milan Cortina Olympics

While I hate that both Gold Medal games went to 3 on 3, Hallebuyk stole that game. That save on Towes was incredible. Also the tributes to Johnny got me in the feels. Great game from the US and I'm glad Celebrini got out of that tournament mostly unscathed. Looking forward to the return of the NHL.

Yeah, that was quite an intense game. Great game played by both teams, although I did feel like there were some sketchy calls or lack of. In particular, there was a moment during the 1st period where 3 American players were ganging up rather agressively on a Canadian player and no call was made. There should probably have been a penalty for roughing.

There was also the too many men call that was missed. The US got lucky on that one. I was surprised Canada didn't connect on the extended 5 on 3 though, but Hallebuyck kind of turned on god mode from like midway in the second period to the end.

I thought I had heard the call for too many men via the broadcast's announcer but was surprised when nothing happened. Was surprised too when Canada didn't score on the 5-3 too. But that really is a testament to how good the American team was. They played a strong game.

Overall it was a fun Olympics. I think my favorite moment was Alysa Liu winning the gold in figure skating but also the American winning gold in the Monobob. The hockey was good though that first week was rough. I only get to see some of these sports every four years so it was nice to watch them again.

Norway really loves their winter sports. I think they are like the Nordic capital of the world so it tracks.

Yeah, I agree, it was a fun Olympics. I missed some events I wanted to see due to the scheduling, but I still ended up watching a bit more as a result, in particular the hockey.

It was particularly brutal to watch Lindsay Vonn wipe out in seconds during her run. That looked so painfull, and then on top of that, I heard her dog passed away when she was in the hospital.

But on a lighter note, seeing that one dog joining in during a ski race was quite something. Should have won a participation award :D

Team Relay Luge has become my favorite Olympic event. Team Skeleton is good but needs some work to get to that level of fun. .

It was nice to see Canadians finally get to lose the good guy personal in these Olympics. Good for you. Join the dark side.

This was a fun Olympics. Italy put on a great show.

I was watching a little of the relay luge event. I was thinking they could add the skeleton as the back end of the relay and really have chaos. Still that was a ton of fun to watch but crazy insane.

I love that idea. Not sure here the skele sliders will hit the flappy thing. maybe they just head butt it. We must have this.

lol ya i saw that clip of the dog aka mans best friend aka the furry friend running to the finish line

The closing ceremonies were nice, bittersweet as always. Not a lot of fanfare or big performances by known artists. The day before, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the ice skating gala exhibition, including great performances by Team USA Amber Glenn, Ilia Malinin, and gold medalist Alysa Liu.

Malinin's performance gave me some chills. It was like a reaction to his disaster free skate, and it showed why he was such a great competitor in the sport.

Finally watched the US/China women's round-robin game (yes, more curling) last night with my dad (certainly beats the felgerkarb* out of spending the evening watching the SotU). Real nail-biter of a game, with US managing three one-point steals in a row, in the last three ends, with Tabitha putting her last rock on the edge of the button, and the Chinese skip (with hammer) going for a tap, and failing to hit anything hard enough to promote it over Tabitha's rock.

I'd thought I'd heard something about the US team winning that game, but for most of the game, I wondered if I'd heard wrong.
