General Trek Questions and Observations

Really bathrooms are the hot topic of star trek now lol?

Did someone say the Enterprise D had a shopping mall? I read that many years ago but passed it off as a joke

The Ed Whitefire blueprints - which would’ve been the official set if the FASA license hadn’t lapsed - showed the D having a sprawling mall area in the forward saucer that was 3-5 decks high.

Speaking of the D someone created a panorama based on the Interactive deck plans CD ROM

Apologies if this is not in the right place but it's not my work or art.

I just want to say how much I appreciate this forum still existing.

These message boards. Only real user generated content. And separated out so you can only interact with the threads you want. All the ads look honestly like ads. No corporation curated feed you can't control.

90% of the other ones already disappeared but this one is still here. Wish we could get the rest of the Internet back to this.

^^^^^

Just to jump on that this is the ONLY Star Trek, and scifi related forum that I have, and continue to engage with. I love this place so much, and that's why I continue to support it by being a paid member, not just that doing that kills the ads. I really do love this place and almost everyone in it.

Same here. I drop by daily and the structure and total lack of treating us like cash sources is wonderful. Other blogs I go to have messages like "xxx needs your contributions to blah, blah, blah" even tho it's run by a millionaire who has a sports blog as his primary net presence, "you've read xx # of stories this month, why don't you contribute" and the total lack of that here is refreshing.

Ironically, I might start contributing here once things settle down for me cashwise because I see value that I don't elsewhere.

Still comes with prices. Goddamn butt-fucking communist Google AdSense places limits on what you can say in certain contexts and what images can be posted. Because of that we can't -- for example - any longer have fun using the Penickrock in Caption This! contents like we used to.

It's a fine line always open to the whims of what Google says, since Google AdSense brings in the revenue needed to maintain the site.

But also recall, the site wasn't always clean like this. We used to have "Electrical superstorms!" ads (for the film The Core), flying gif dragons across the screen, Orange Crush ads that popped down like an upside down mountain and covered most of the screen, and other issues. And we still have problems with ads with bad coding, viruses, and inappropriate ads. I have to, for example in the last two weeks, have to report Google AdSense ads on Youtube with nudity (yes -- the same people that complain about the Penisrock, having women sucking dicks in their ads!) and sexual content (A.I. generated women talking about how their older husband gets rock hard and fucks them for hours). I guess if I posted the Penisrock being sucked on, that would be okay with Google AdSense.

Google are pure hypocrites because they happily take money for porn ads and look the other way. Their so called community standards do not matter when ad revenue is concerned

Question for administrators: doesn't Star Trek Scouts deserve its own section? It has seen a massive uptick in views since its second half the season (Holodeck Rescues)...

It just has a discussion thread here:

I wonder how it is that insanely long lived species haven't propogated to the point where they can take over.

Prior to their assimilation what would have stopped the El-Aurians from spreading and taking over since they can choose their aging?

Cheronians can live tens of thousands of years prior to their left side right side war they could have a vast interstellar empire or maybe they did and their war was much larger than first realised and perhaps the very small number of survivors stops that resurgence from being possible.

Lanthanites age to some extent but don't seem to have an upper limit to their lifespan but it's a numbers game they were a small tribe and likely kept that fact secret so other humans wouldn't murder them. As Pelia said you don't live to be 5000 by getting shot at a lot.
