Did we just jump to April 1st? I just saw mention of this on FB and I thought someone was joking. I guess not. Ahh well, it will probably sell tons.

I only pray he delivers Deadpool-style maximum effort while providing actual music.

Dunno about the actual music part of it, but it's spoken word like much of his other albums. These mainly feature big-name musicians providing the backing track. Funny visual of Shatner headbanging along though :D

Sir Christopher Lee made some metal albums in his 90s. Why can't Shatner?

When I heard he was making an album in a "surprising genre," my first guess was, "Smooth jazz?"

We need a heavy metal version of him singing "Bah Bah black Sheep".

Thinking of that hilarious scene from the original run of "Animaniacs" where Slakner (William Shatner parody) sings and that's one of the song. Sadly, the full song is not to be found on Youtube, just a small part which is part of a larger compilation.

There's a wide distinction between Dracula and Kirky. Shatner creates imaginary ''Cowls'' by mispronounciation, but Lee has an actual one. Shatner's the Captain of his soul, but Lee commands far more than 440 souls on his worst day. And he was taller....and probably still is....and lighter. Also, I never fell asleep when Lee appeared at conventions.* I conked out during a Shat horse monologue and missed nothing.

(*Even though I never attended a Lee convention appearance, the facts are indisputable.)

That being said, I always wanted to hear James Earl Jones perform ''Stayin' Alive'' in deep baritone, or Ice-T reenact Tweety's ''Singin' In Da Bathtub'' cartoon classic, but those were not to be.

Yeah, the difference between actually being able to sing and not being able to. There's nothing wrong with spoken-word either as itself is an artform , and it can clearly be defined as a category of its own. There are plenty of actors who end up being great singers and musicians.

Regarding this album, this album won't be changing that. All that will change is the instrumentation behind it, and I think it's a bit of a cheeky joke that Shatner himself seems to be on. Most of the heavy metal will be done via his guest artists
