The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

New Republic intelligence handing out Sabacc cards with important imperial fugitives on them was first referenced in The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire book from 2024.

The Film was announced in January in 2024 and started filming in August, so it's possible the author was given advanced info about it.

It's also something that has happened IRL, so it could be a coincidence.

I have to admit that I'm looking forward to this, mainly because the focus has returned to Mando and his ward; by Season 3 it felt like it had become the 'Bo-Katan Show'.

Put simply, it looks like it should be a lot of fun, with or without any unknown, interesting cameos.

I'd been thinking that Sigourney Weaver will turn out to the villain -- CBS procedural rules; as the Big Name Guest Star, it would be her -- and the line reading they used for her one line doesn't dissuade me from that view.

Well, the big names in the original were Guinness and Cushing, so that's about a 50% chance.

Looking at the other standalone SW films, I'm not sure, but I'd say the biggest names in Rogue One included Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and maybe Donnie Yen, none of whom were villains per se, although Saw Gerrera is chaotic neutral at best. I'd say most of Solo's cast except Han and Chewie were big names, and while they were pretty much all criminals, only some were antagonists.

Okay, so Variety is reporting that Scorsese of all people is voicing Ardennian. In my defense, Favreau and Scorsese have the exact same accent, since they're literally both from the same neighborhood in Queens! I still have hopes that it's Rio's brother or something along those lines. Either way, I think we can safely say that an Ardennian accent is now canonically a Queens accent. I don't know why that tickles me, but it does!
Speaking of still having hope; the city planet has to be Nar Shaddaa, right?! I mean there's shots of what's clearly Nal Hutta so they at least go to the same system in this movie!

This isn't a procedural though, it's a movie of an ongoing TV show, and under Movie of an Ongoing TV Show Rules, the Big Name Guest Star is probably going to be killed off in the second or third act, because they're far too expensive/busy to every appear again once they go back to the small screen.

That trailer was a ton of fun, really looking forward to the movie.
Embo is certainly a pleasant surprise! I mean I figured he'd show up in live action sooner or later, but I assumed it would be in one of Filloni's own projects.
I could have sworn we saw Embo in live action before, but I guess not.

I refer to Season 3 as "Everyone But The Mandalorian."

"Figure out the murderer by picking out the most famous name in the guest cast." Damn, it really is amusing how often that turns out to be the case. And it doesn't even have to be someone famous. I find at least 75% of the time, if I recognize a name in the guest cast on a procedural show, they're usually the murderer.

I think it was Castle where the murderer usually turned out to be the first person they questioned, but whom we'd completely forgotten was in the episode because they'd cycled through half a dozen different suspects and theories of the crime by the time they circled back to the first person they suspected.

That scene where the fighters are launching from three circular ports, those look like they may be HH-87 Starhoppers. And all the characters running in front of the ports look to be droids, and I'm pretty sure at least one was a B1 battledroid. I'm assuming they're working for the Hutts?

Also works with the Knives Out films!

The trailer looks like fun!
