News Starfleet Academy Nielsen Ratings

We better get at least four seasons. After all, that's the standard duration of Starfleet Academy training.

Dunno, Teen Wolf took six seasons to cover two years iirc. We know as of 1.05 we were only a maximum of three months into term (Sam gives us 96 days since the Academy started), so its possible two seasons could cover a single year.

Breaking Bad ran for 5 years and covered just over 2 years of time in universe.

Lower Decks ran 5 years and covered about two and a half years in universe.

24 would routinely skip numerous years in between seasons.

The MCU skipped 5 years and the real world timeline is still catching up.

All that said, if Academy gets the opportunity, I think a four-year run would be appropriate.

SNW
1 - 2022
2 - 2023 - announced in 2022, just prior to S1
3 - 2025 - announced in 2023, prior to S2
4 - 2026 - announced in 2024 whilst S3 is in production
5 - 2027 - announced in 2025

So if anything we wouldn't necessarily expect a S3 pick-up announcement until next year at the earliest

Probably see where S2 pops up in the rankings/viewership before deciding on S3. Wouldn't blame them.

2 million viewership for the season premier is apparently consistent with SNW and Picard.. which is kind of sad.

By which point the biggest set in North America has been standing empty for well over a year (theyve already finished filming season two) and is infested with Canadian Attack Beavers.

It's the No.1 show in Canada and the U.K.!
Two huge, major markets for Pee Plus!
But you're gonna get fingers wagging in your face if you point out SFA is a ratings disaster.
And a certain member on this board will come and exclaim ratings don't matter because his personal enjoyment is the universe's greatest accomplishment!

Whatever helps you cope.

First of all, there was no interest in the show from the very start.
Blame Paramount's marketing, blame the racist chuds, blame the entire fucking world that even the minorities hate other minorities but the honest truth is the subject matter for SFA had zero momentum from the start.
Older fans didn' even tune in, and the mythical younger Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha fans that Pee Plus was so desperate to chase doesn't fucking exist.
But I am a racist chud if I point out the failures of this show and obviously us fans of Star Trek cant accept minorities on our screens.
Despite, of course, a minority led show - His & Hers - is the number one show nearly a month in.
I'm not sure how your last paragraphs even relate to the comment of mine you quoted. I never brought race into it. Nor did I mention racists chuds, or call you a racist chuds. There's a psychological phenomena called projection that you may want to look into. Honestly, man this is a tv show and you put way too much energy into hating something that you could just not watch.

By all means keep diatribing and being an angry, edgelord keyboard warrior or whatever it is you're trying to do. I genuinely cannot take you seriously.

Now, I'm going to be over here enjoying however much SFA we do get. If two seasons is it, so be it.

Have a nice day and while you're at it get some fresh air and sunshine. I think you need it.

SFA's poor ratings are also an indictment of the other ST streaming shows. If they were making any new fans there'd be at least some buzz for SFA.

Academy was never going to bring in large numbers of new fans, that's just not how Star Trek works.

It slowly gathers new fans over the years as new people catch re-runs and want to watch more.

That won't be happening with the recent shows.
I disagree. When Discovery aired about a decade ago, I absolutely hated it. Ten years and a most recent rewatch later, I have a very different opinion. It may be nothing compared to TNG in syndication, but I think it can attract new audiences still.
