I'm very much at peace with ignoring 90something% of the wall and the show already has inconsistencies with its graphics department. The Athena has got the wrong registry number like the Prometheus did and Lura Thok's bio says she's 50 and was born in 3145 despite the show being in 3193.

We do have stardates though.
The prologue 15 years ago was 853724.6
Vitus Reflux gave stardate 868858.7 which lines up as 15 years later.
Discovery season 5 in 3191 has stardate 866282.9 which is 2 years earlier.
Granted I think something has gone slightly askew somewhere as that doesn't line up entirely with everything else and the stardate in Academy would be placed in 3191 if you count backwards.
But Discovery's year was said out loud and the convention is followed for the flashback so following it through here does give us 3193.
There's always a chance stardates are just being used at writers' whims and the rules only apply when the plot demands. That or temporal war shenanigans deleted a couple of numbers.

I will slowly start covering the names on the memory wall on the USS Athena in #StarfleetAcademy today. As there are sometimes 12, sometimes 14 and sometimes 16 columns of names, I will begin in the middle and cover the columns on the left and right from there, numbering them as seen in the image.

Column 1L on the memory wall in #StarfleetAcademy is easiest to find, as it contains the shortest name on the whole wall: Lt. Nog. There are also some Red Squad cadets from #StarTrekDS9's "Valiant": Chief petty officer Dorian Collins, Commander Karen Farris + Lt. Riley Shepard (all acting). 🧵 1/2

The further away from the center of the memory wall in #StarfleetAcademy we move, the less previously seen #StarTrek characters appear. In column 2R, there are some high-ranking officers, namely Admirals Jean-Luc Picard, Katrina Cornwell and Alonzo Freeman plus Captains Chakotay and Rachel Garrett.

Don't know who I'd put on the wall, because I assume we're only seeing a part of the wall. It's like the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial: to read the names, you have to get too close to see the overall wall.

I‘m sorry, but this is starting to get a little ridiculous. This is just a piece of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it background art. And they clearly included Nog on the wall to pay homage to the beloved character and actor. Why does it matter what the rank he‘s included with is? I respect Melissa Longo, but for anyone to twist this into some sort of disrespect, when it was clearly added to lovingly remember Aron and Nog seems a bit over-the-top. Maybe one of the most important things he did was as a Lieutenant and that‘s why he‘s on there like that. Or maybe he left Starfleet to do something else that was super important before he rose through the ranks. Maybe the wall is interactive and when you stare at LT. NOG long enough it plays a recorded interview with him when he was a Lieutenant for you. So many possibilities, none of which mean Aron Eisenberg or Nog doesn‘t get enough respect.

If as suggested earlier, the rank on the wall is the rank at which someone was added to the legendary alumni list, not their final rank, it might be better.
If it wasn't something like that before, I suspect the order will come down from the network to make it that way now.
In reality the wall was probably just slapped together in 5 minutes by someone scrolling a wiki thinking oh this will make fans smile
