Just about every premier they've had for the past 50 years AT LEAST has wanted that. It's just that some parties are more open about saying so than others.

I wonder if the next one will refrain from so openly expressing his hatred toward ROC university students who go there to study. Honestly, it got to the point where it seemed like Quebec should just put up signs at their borders saying, "Non-Canadians welcome. Canadians who aren't francophones from Quebec, GTFO."

Well, they weren't particularly welcoming to ROC. Increasing tuition to some crazy amount, using the pretext of "they (the university students) add nothing to our economy or culture" so it's perfectly find to treat them as if they're a nuisance that doesn't belong.

Oh, I don't doubt that part at all. They didn't seem particularly fond of their own anglophone population, either. I just thought they were supposed to be a highly nationalist party (as Marc noted), but they wanted greater independence for Quebec while still staying within the Canadian framework.

Alberta sovereignty within a united Canada is the bullshit we're handed here on a daily basis from the traitor who calls herself the Premier of Alberta.

There is an infestation of American MAGA Republicans spreading money around, funding "Alberta independence town halls" (had one in my city last night, at the same where I worked so many years in musical theatre; it makes me PHYSICALLY ILL to think that this filth was going on there). They're not even trying to hide their actions, tampering with our electoral system, and making open threats against people who are trying to get the MLA recall petitions done. Even a member of the caucus threatened a man in Medicine Hat who owns a bakery where the owner was allowing these petitions.

Danielle Smith says she doesn't want an independent Alberta. She is LYING. Why else would she be in the midst of trying to get rid of the RCMP, decimate our health system put in tyrannical anti-LGBT laws, seek to prevent "immigrants and refugees" from accessing health and social services for 10 YEARS, is openly stealing the federal disability benefit from the disabled people, is in the midst of trying to steal the CPP from the seniors, and all the other crap she's doing?

She is so lucky this isn't 1885 and the current PM isn't Sir John A. Macdonald. I trust the Canadians here who have read Western Canadian history know what I'm referring to.

But there's a difference between ready stomp on people for the benefit of the entire country and willing to stomp on them because you want their land for yourself, and to hell whether or not that's part of the overall federal plan.
