I remember that, as a kid, I never missed an episode of Captain Kangaroo. I just love Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit. My cousins, on the other hand, watched Sesame Street. Some of my friends in Kindergarten watched The Electric Company and others Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood.

So for those of us who remember those 4 shows which was your favorite?

Mine, as I said, was Captain Kangaroo. It had Bill Cosby on it! Mr. Green Jeans, Dennis, Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit, Grandfather Clock, the people who lived in the bookshelf (I can't remember their name). To me nothing compared.

I remember all but The Electric Company, which ended about a decade before I was born. Of the others, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was my favorite.

i was partial to the electric company and some of the episodes of Mr Rogers. I never cared for sesame street and I never saw Cpt Kangaroo

You know, Oscar the Grouch taught really bad manners and attitude to kids.

I also think season eight of 24 should deal with a terrorist thread in the Neighborhood of Make Believe. Maybe it can start with a suicide bomber on the trolley.

Sesame Street. I loved it. But Electric Company was a very cool show, too. I remember watching in 1st grade during snack time.

"Hey...You....Guys!!!"

Sesame Street. I liked the mix of learning and entertainment best when presented by felt covered monsters.

From that list; Sesame Street. Of course, it's the only show on that list I actually watched as a young child. But I did watch it in spades, continuously. It was an excellent show. Bert and Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird, the Cookie Monster, so many classic characters. :)

Are you kidding me?!?! I can't pick just one of those! All four were great (past tense applies to Sesame Street, too, because it's no longer any good)!

Of those, I'll go with The Electric Company, though to be honest, I don't actually remember watching much of any of them. We had Captain Chesapeake, who i watched, but not much Captain Kangaroo. I did watch Romper Room when I was very little, though I think that was mostly becasue my parents found it hilarious...damn hippies! Pinwheel as well. Sesame Street bored me, as I learned to read very early. According to my mother I hated Mr. Rogers; I do remember being very bothered by the fact that he put on sneakers when he came home, instead of slippers. It seemed wrong...

Anyway, I liked The Muppet Show best. ;)

I missed The Electric Company by a few years, and honestly, it could be an even toss-up between Sesame Street and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (I voted for Mr. Rogers, though). These two PBS shows plus three others not listed here (Reading Rainbow, 3-2-1 Contact, and Square One TV) were my "must see TV" growing up.

An easy tie between Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

Although, there will always be a special place in my heart for Fat Albert, 3-2-1 Contact, and Zoobilee Zoo as well.

Wow. I loved them all!! I will admit that Sesame Street wasn't quite as good for me once Mr. Snuffaluffagus was revealed to the whole group. Wasn't right.:p

I watched 3 of those shows (Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, Sesame Street and Captain Kangaroo), and of the 3 that I watched, Sesame Street was my favorite.

I'm too old for the others, so I had to go with Captain Kangaroo. Loved that show! "Tom Terrific" was SO surreal. As was "Lariat Sam" (in an underplayed kind of way).

I can't remember, but what was the word that would cue all the ping-pong balls to drop on everyone?

I think it was "ping pong balls". Mr. Moose would tell the Captain a joke the punchline usually being "ping pong balls", and down they would come.

Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Moose
