Spoilers Stranger Things - Season 5

On a more positive note, something I forgot to mention in my review is that I was especially blown away by the production for the MAC-Z. I felt like there could've been a two-hour documentary on just its production from beginning to end, from the set (re)production, the massive stunt rehearsals, the actual filming (including how the apparent single long shot was actually five careful takes), and the post-production special effects work.

Also, io9 did an excellent write-up on the documentary and really drives home some of the points I tried to articulate.

Finished the finale today, let stuff sink in a bit.

I really enjoyed Stranger Things as a complete set, and somewhere in a different topic I once mentioned how all seasons seem to reflect different kinds of movie genres for me personally. I could go into full details on my thoughts and feelings about everything, but I doubt I will say anything that hasn't been said, both positive and negative.

I would like to point out one thing, that feels sort of like.... Not an eyesore, but something that kinda bugs me.
The show progressed and evolved as all shows do ofcourse. But, after season 1, if you had told me the final episode of the final season would be this, I would have laughed and said 'it's not the kinda show that will end with a huge battlescene involving a kaiju-sized alien spiderlike monster on an alien world, defeated by a bunch of teenagers and psychic powers'. Well, maybe the psychic powers bit.
At some points, the kids using military tactics and just casually going back and forth to the Upside Down like that kinda threw me off.
But hey..... It's make believe. And like they said, I choose to believe.

It did feel like there should have been more foot soldiers to get through to get to the main base. I don't think it stretches suspension of disbelief past the breaking point, because at the time Henry was confident he had won and had no idea that Dustin had figured out how to get to his main base. He didn't think he'd need the demos because he did not realize anyone knew how to strike him directly.

It did seem like the giant spider monster should have been tougher and faster.

I read a quote from an interview with the Duffers where they addressed the lack of demos during the final battle, and they said they didn't want over use them after the big battle at the MAC-Z, and wanted to just focus the final battle on The Mind Flayer and Vecna.

...which is briefly mentioned in one of the writers room scenes. Kate Trefry called it "demo fatigue."
