My first vote is for "Ghosts of Illyria".

Really good episode, and does not belong in the Finals, let alone win it. (Truly, if we did not require the runner ups to be added, it wouldn't make it to this point.)

"The Serene Squall" - 0
"Ghosts of Illyria"- 1
"Hegemony"- 0
"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - 0
"Terrarium" - 0
"New Life and New Civilizations" - 0

I’m saving Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow because it’s one of my favorite time travel episodes, using the concept to tell a focused, emotional story rather than relying on gimmicks. It’s a fantastic La’an episode, with Christina Chong delivering a standout performance, and it’s also the moment where Paul Wesley really started to gel as Kirk for me. His chemistry with La’an feels natural and grounded, giving the episode real emotional weight and making it far more memorable than a standard time travel story.

"The Serene Squall" - 0
"Ghosts of Illyria"- 2
"Hegemony"- 0
"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - 1
"Terrarium" - 0
"New Life and New Civilizations" - 0

Ghosts Of Illyria for me as well.

The tale about M'Benga's daughter being in suspended animation was the most heartbreaking arc in S1.

Also, I enjoyed the revelation that Una was genetically enhanced.

Serene Squall" - 0
"Ghosts of Illyria"- 3
"Hegemony"- 0
"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - 0
"Terrarium" - 0
"New Life and New Civilizations" - 0

"Ghosts Of Illyria" is fantastic. The only thing wrong with it is the setup suggests some even more interesting things they might have done with it. I'll save that.

"Hegemony" for the next round. I have no notes on this one. Fantastic cliffhanger. So tense and suspenseful.

And the Spock/Chapel material! So awesome.

"Serene Squall" - 0
"Hegemony"- 1
"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - 0
"Terrarium" - 0
"New Life and New Civilizations" - 0

"Hegemony" is quite clearly the best one of what's remaining, so I vote for it this round.

"Serene Squall" - 0
"Hegemony"- 2
"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - 1
"Terrarium" - 0
"New Life and New Civilizations" - 0

I'll go with Hegemony as well.

Despite the strange interpretation of the Gorn, the cliffhanger was very effective.

Serene Squall" - 0
"Hegemony"- 3
"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - 1
"Terrarium" - 0
"New Life and New Civilizations" - 0

God, one of these I just LOATHE. All the others I like, to some degree.

SNW has very few outright flops for me. "The Elysian Kingdom" I find literally unwatchable, I want to peel my skin off trying to sit through that. I'll do these SNW rewatches before each season, and this last time through I was like, "Elysian" goes on permanent skip going forward, I can't endure this again, life is too short.

"A Quality Of Mercy" drives me insane with its core message, to an extent that it ruins all the cool stuff they're doing elsewhere in this ep.

"What Is Stafleet?" didn't work at all for me. The structure killed it.

And then there's the one on this list I find torture, but I won't say which one that is yet.

For me, "The Elysian Kingdom" is unquestionably the best episode of season 1, and among the very best of the entire series so far. It was the most fun episode of the series, and it had a deeply emotional ending. No other episode of the entire series had that much fun and still was able to be so incredibly emotional. None have been even close.
