Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Yeah, I do think that not having at least one scene with Han, Luke, and Leia back together was a mistake.
It'll never happen, but now that Kennedy is out I'd like to see the ST de-canonized and redone properly. Unfortunately, with Carrie gone and Ford/Hamil even older, it would require some major recasting or deepfake tech unless they wanted to go a whole new direction without the OT characters at all. Which might also be okay.
So they'll going to decanonize the sequels, just like they decanonized the prequels, which had an even worse reaction?
I don't see why they can't cherry-pick on what they want to keep or not. IMO I think it's just a matter of when more than if, when this happens. Sooner or later someone will likely come along with a great idea that more or less starts with the notion of 'This what REALLY happened after the Classic films" and they will embrace it. It isn't even a case that they will be looking for excuse to erase it. Just that someone has a great idea and they think it will be successful.
There is no way that is going to happen.
With the way The Rise of Skywalker ended, it's more than easy enough to just move on and ignore the stuff that people didn't like and continuing on the stuff that people. There is absolutely no need to decanonize them.

But like Tallguy said, would one scene have been enough?

It feels somewhat like putting Henry Cavill in the end of a DC film and just having him there for a few moments doing nothing. If that's all we can get, why bother?

It would have at least been better than nothing, and would have given them another big moment to use in all the promotion.

The waiting game: it looks like Kathleen Kennedy may make her departure from Lucasfilm official any day now, with Lucasfilm mainstay/Star Wars nerd Dave Filoni and veteran business side exec Lynwen Brennan tipped to co-run the company in a creative/business mind meld. An announcement could happen as early as next week.

Because they predicted it!

Oh, agreed he's an iconic actor. But I get why some people get turned off by that descriptor being overused in headlines. Too often "iconic" is used to refer to average or, at best, good but hardly trendsetting and historic.
