Depending on their power source, they're DMU or EMU (diesel multiple units/electric multiple units)

My guess would be DMU. Sounds like it would be more reliable, and less reliant on a power grid, unless I'm misunderstanding something.

There were 3 Buds built in Australia under license and I’ve seen the one at the national railway museum at port Adelaide.

Though the last time I was there was in 2006.
