NFL 2025: A new era dawns?

Herbert to rest week 18. Lance to get the start.

I wonder if the Pats are mad because on paper this makes Denver the favorite to beat the Chargers and thus they would get the bye.

Personally, I think Willie Anderson belongs in the HOF (along with Ken). Being from Cincinnati, I imagine his odds of getting in are between slim and none.

Vinatieri is in, but he's a kicker so they're going to keep pushing him back for "more important" inductees. And because there's at least one new superstar nominee every year, he'll just keep getting pushed back.

Manning is getting in too (for his name, two Super Bowl wins and playing for New York), but they'll push him back a few years too. He didn't get in last year.

Manning will probably make it (eventually) in part because of his role in stopping the Patriots' 19-0 season. That's football history, and what else is the Hall of Fame for?

NFL seems to induct players not just for career stats but for big moments. You have players like Kurt Warner and Terrell Davis who didn't play for very long but had big moments. Then there are a lot of QBs who when they retired were among the career-leaders in all the good stats but no one thinks of them as a hall of famer, like David Krieg.

If MLB were like NFL, Dale Murphy and Don Mattingly would probably be hall of famers because even though their stats ultimately fell short, they were among the elite for a decade.
