Another very major point. About evolutionary programming.
When Gene Roddenberry gave instructions to Matt Jeffreys, on the developing Enterprise, this was an evolutionary process - done manually. As in no computerized.
This can't be understated at all, a series of random discussions/commands that led to the Enterprise TOS... each MAN, had their education to process what was required, but needed no understanding of the actual physics involved.
In other words, this design works. Not figutively, in actuality.
Because actual understanding wasn't required. Both of warp physics, nor of computers, nor of space/interstellar travel.
Why?
Because it was evolutionary in nature.
If you have one million monkeys tapping on one million typewriters, you will eventually get all the works of Shakespeare.
However with two educated people, and evolutionary programming you don't need to have one million monkeys. The two people are sufficient.
Keep in mind that they didn't go far enough, nor kept the design process going.
What they were, was a think tank in process. Given an incentive to take the design further, such as interior design, mass distribution and so on, a working piece of equipment could have been built.
I am saying that they should have gone much further than they did.
