News Rob and Michele Reiner found dead

What a bizarre and ultimately tragic family self-destruction, and it stole from us a relatively nice, very prolific director in the Hollywood business.

We're very likely still in a "dark" basic era with the treatment of mental and personality disorder issues (perhaps still at the equivalent of medical science not understanding bacteria and viruses yet).

How did he become a drug addict? What drugs?

It feels like to simple a solution to say he did drugs and stabbed them.

I see lots of people doing marijuana, and they're not going around stabbing people.

Charlie Sheen hasn't stabbed his parents, and he's come out that he did a lot of coke. Stephen King has also come out about addictions problems, and he hasn't stabbed anyone.

I'm curious about the behind the scenes motive. The fact that a knife was used is also pretty grim.

Drug abuse can lead to schizophrenia. Responsible drug use doesn't, it's the abuse. Of course this is a broad generalisation; Everybody has a different tolerance to drugs, some people can try marijuana once and have a psychotic break while others can use daily and only damage their short term memory. Some people like Charlie Sheen have an unusually high tolerance. Also some people can never do drugs and just have a bad day that leads to a psychotic break if they have a neurotic personality type to begin with.

This is such a terrible thing to happen :(

My favourite films of his are probably The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally, but special mention also to The Sure Thing, just because it's a film I've loved since the 80s and a film that means a lot to me.

DJT truly is one of the vilest human beings on the planet isn't he

that and the fact that leaders keep talking about addressing MH, then at the same time cut funding and resources...MH has become a political tool

He's severely afflicted by a "Nothing is wrong with me!! Everybody else is a target or a rival..." type personality disorder.

Minor, petty issues or inconsequencial faux pas make them homicidally furious and they never forget it, but real tragedies and injustices costing lives just triggers irritable indifference.

Ukraine is getting razed, bloodied, and brutalised, but poor widdle Trump just rambled on about a damn laptop right in front of a bewildered Zelensky in the Oval Office...

A vile being, definitely.

I can think of two other individuals---albeit less murderous----that reflect that description excellently: one of my brothers, and the 21 century's Grover Cleveland.*

(*Not to mention Andrew Johnson.)

I just watched a special on CourtTV about the Reiner's, and they were talking about how at Conan's Christmas party, guests were urging Conan and the Reiner's to call 911 regarding Nick's behavior towards the other guests, Bill Hader in particular, and Conan and the Reiner's refused, not wanting to disrupt the party.
They also said that the Reiner's were telling guests that they brought their daughter Romy and Nick to the party because they were afraid to leave Nick alone at the house and Romy was acting as kind of a chaperone to Nick.

At great personal risk, let me just posit that the trump thing is explainable, tho not excusable. He and Reiner were bitter enemies. Reiner constantly insulted and opposed Trump. That said, even being a conservative, I wish the old asshole had just shut up about it. It was a low thing to do.

Bad people through history have reasons for the things they said or did.

Nick Reiner was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia before the deaths of his parents Rob and Michele Reiner.

According to TMZ, in the weeks leading up to the murder of his parents, the 32-year-old was acting "erratic and dangerous."

Two sources told the publication that Nick was under the care of a psychiatrist for his mental illness, but in the month preceding the murders, Nick's behavior had allegedly become "alarming."

The sources allege that doctors changed Nick's medication roughly 3-4 weeks before his parents' deaths in hopes of stabilizing his condition, which they believe caused his sudden change in behavior. The sources also claim that Nick's substance abuse worsened his schizophrenia.
