In the audiobook when considering boarding a luxury yacht our heroes listen to an 'Ardanian' (?) and there is mention of 'egalitarian reforms' taking place on their planet. What is this a reference to? (If anything.) I'd like to read up on those reforms””-

Yep. "The Cloud Minders."

This is twenty-plus years after Kirk shook things up there, so one likes to think that the Troglytes aren't being oppressed anymore -- even if some old-school Ardanian aristocrats aren't happy about that.

Sulu and Chekov mentioned a lot of old adventures involving TOS planets and races that weren’t (as far as I could tell) TOS episodes. I’m not sure if any of them were references to other novels or comics, or if they were all unchronicled events.

I would've expected the demonym for Ardana to be "Ardanan," but I guess a form like "Ardanian" isn't unprecedented -- for instance, I just happened to learn yesterday that the adjective for the asteroid 511 Davida is "Davidian" (not to be confused with the Devidians from TNG: "Time's Arrow"). I also learned that the asteroid's name is pronounced "Duh-VEE-duh" instead of "DA-vih-duh" as I'd assumed, but that's not relevant here.

Not every old exploit Sulu and Chekov reminisce about is a reference to some previous work, be it a classic TV episode or a preexisting book or comic. Some of them I just made up in the interest of conveying the idea that the two friends and crewmates have a long history, going back decades.

I can't remember where I picked up that spelling, but I'm guessing I consulted Memory Alpha and/or Beta.
