I went back and forth on a poll. Individual threads doesn't make sense considering it's a miniseries and it's releasing two episodes at a time. I held back on a poll because some people may prematurely vote...although I can, as I always, set it so people can change their votes.
I can still add a poll so it's not a done deal.
Radio Times (not entirely neutral) gives the first two episodes the flippers up
Better than last few years of Who, effort was made, and it’s enjoyable enough. It is, however, a little cheesy and predictable (both narratively and with its other elements) — it’s worst moments are when it directly references Who tbh.
Actually no, it’s worst moments are probably all the silly ‘Homo Aqua’ bits where a basic grasp at GCSE level of science and naming conventions was clearly out of reach for someone on the writing staff, but they seem to stop doing that after a bit.

I thought it was ok, I wasn't bored. I liked the references to Who. Kate saying this is like working with the Doctor was funny. The plastic attack took me by surprise.
To be honest I'd rather have had 5 more episodes of Ncuti(or Billie, or whoever) Who but I've seen enough to keep watching.

I think I had rather the style and effort that went into this had been reflected in the main show. Saying that, RTD doesn’t have a good track record of late for nailing the landing.
Kates humorous line was great, but the whole ‘I met the Doctor once’ stuff was… cringe.
Colin McFarlane was being a better Doctor than the Doctor, even if at times this made him sound like a narrator rather than a human, but I liked him the most I think.
The PC business was all subdued for once (unless someone counts eco stuff as PC/Woke) though maybe it would have been significantly more interesting if Barclay *was* a Catholic, rather than having him say he wasn’t (after… crossing himself) but maybe they will touch on that, and you could still tell this was the modern era team.
They re-edited Sea Devils (poorly tbh) to help with this release, but Warriors of the Deep is probably more relevant — but presents an issue in that it presumably takes place after this, relatively speaking, and therefore tells you everything has to be back in the box by the end.
One other niggle from a cheese bit (I called the Titanic just before it showed on screen, but was wondering aloud if they’d put a bit in the British Isles and a bit in New York. As it it stands, Irish Tourism is probably pissed.) related to the utter lack of very basic scientific knowledge in the writers, is that removing a lot of that stuff from the sea would actually destroy many marine habitats. It also consistently accidentally and subtextually paints ‘Homo Aqua’ as a bit thick, or at the very least speaking in bad faith. (They too would have gone through a civilisational stage of wrecking or shaping their environment, and fish eat other fish. They are also long established as amphibian, and working with metal and textiles. No mention of their shared civilisation with the Silurians/Eocenes and previous aggression either.)
I can't even begin to imagine why this dropped today.

They transmitted a new edit on BBC 4 and iPlayer.
It wasn’t an improvement in any way really.

Used to be. It got spam out years ago, but it’s like a grown up kid who keeps popping in to raid the fridge. Largely out of tradition.

Unlikely. I suppose.
