Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I imagine so. Possibly made the masks blink like in the Jodie one. There’s not a huge amount of VFX to play with on Sea Devils from what I recall.
I don’t think what was done to the War Games particularly worked, so my interest is medium at best on this one. (Also, it was hardly a Pertwee I was big on. They should have done The Daemons when the show was having its recent flirtation with gods and magic.) Without the added draw of ‘In Colour!’ there isn’t even the sense of it being a curio.
Am trying to remember if it was all shot on film or not, but I have a sneaking suspicion it was a studio mix job, so unless they get an AI all over it there’s not going to be a radical uptick in picture quality either.

I’m not even a fan of the radiophonic warble in the story, but the music is sort of part of its historic appeal, so I am wary of what Ayres has to work with by sticking in the War Between fella’s music.
There are the submarine scenes (which allegedly got the BBC into trouble with MI5 at the time), they could be CGI'd.

???
The exteriors of the submarines are very obvious models and the interiors clearly weren't actual submarine interiors (far too large). Perhaps you mean the scenes with the surface naval ships, which IIRC were stock footage of actual warships?

It’s longstanding tradition. Web of Fear got told off for filming in London Underground. It didn’t.

Rumored title for the Christmas Special is... "The Last Doctor".

Now, this seems to be based purely on the name Bad Wolf gave to the Limited Liability Company they registered for it's production. They've dropped the "Whoniverse" title they used for the last few series and it's just called "TLD LTD".

So put as much or little weight on that as you choose to.

It sounds like something Russell would use, in theory, going by his track record.

I.e The Next Doctor, "Ooh Dierde, we're going to see the next Doctor in this story, we better tune it", then it was a trademark rugpull.

No doubt will turn out to mean nothing but as you say it would be a perfect bit of RTD publicity generation. "Billie Piper will be playing the last Doctor. Tune in Christmas Day to find out why."

From what I recall, the problem was the design of the turbine blades on the model resembled some top secret design to reduce detectability for real subs. Some officials wondered where they got the idea for how to design the turbines on the model. Something like that at least.

I think this was discussed earlier in the thread, but I can't remember. Have they said if they will address the Sea Devil's new appearance? I believe we saw the old school Sea Devil's in the new series before, so it's going to be harder to ignore than if we hadn't seen them at all since the classic series.

Nah. It wouldn't be the same without John Barrowman, and I don't see him getting work in the Doctor Who Universe anytime soon.

Who knows, it might be better without him. Big Finish has done well over a hundred Torchwood audio adventures, many of them without Jack, some with only one or two characters from the TV series, and overall the Torchwood range is probably the most consistently good work Big Finish has done. If you haven't heard any stories with, say, Andy and Norton Folgate, or Mr. Colchester and Ace (yes, that Ace), you've missed out.

Well, the Silurians changed appearance a few times, and some tie-in sources from the BBC apparently claim the Sea Devils are an aquatic species of Silurian, so... probably not, would be my guess.

That's disappointing if it's true. I can understand changing them when we haven't seen them in decades, like with the Silurians, or if it's kind of a reboot, like with the Klingons on Discovery, but according to the Tardis Wiki we just saw the original style Sea Devils in 2022 and this is clearly meant to be in the same universe. Even just a quick reference to something along the lines of the old Sea Devils were Atlantic Sea Devils and these are Pacific Seas Devils would be enough for me.

the whoverse audio universe is like a video games style sandbox world where since 1963 there are unlimited of stories with many different time lord doctors tons of companions billions of adventures that happen during off screen of the doctor who tv series episodes since 1963

i am pretty sure the time lord doctors and there companions has encountered the ranis and the masters tons of times in the audio universe over the years
