Captain, we seem to be caught in a temporal grift! We canna escape!

OMFGWTFBBQ!

Why has nobody ever coined this before?

Alec Peters Productions Presents: "Axanar: The Temporal Grift"

Coming soon to a theater near you... for the next decade, at least! Only $9.95 for your Temporal Grift Patch, with a complementary packet of Temporal Grift Roast Coffee!

Yeah, okay, I'm done. I'm sloshed, and I'm going to go watch SpaceX attempt to play Karate Kid with their latest Starship booster. It's a better use of my time. Toodles!

P.S.: Seriously, though. This is meme-worthy, and should have been coined years ago...

If only that dipshit Peters just made it a BSG fanfilm, then we would've been spared all the fallout from his unending hubris.

Then again, it probably needed to happen in some way to stop the fanfilm arms race that was going on ten or so years ago.
It truly was nuts. When Paramount dropped the hammer on Peters it put everyone in the fan production community (definitely including us at Starship Excelsior) on brown alert.

I think everyone making fan films turns out a project that simply fails. It's just that I don't hear them brag about it for eight frigging years.
Let it go..... let it go!
Besides that, if nobody can hear you scream in space, do you really expect warp engines to make different sounds?
On another subject, We lost Terri Garr (Gary Seven) which is depressing, So I might have to write another fan script. "You Can Never Go Home again"
See Y'all on the other side.

Given that Sean has been pretty clear about his dissatisfaction with the results of his involvement with Axanar, I’m sure he had nothing to do with this model.

Does Sean have the recourse to be able to fire off a Cease and Desist at Alec?
Probably not, since it is a derivative design to begin with (fine for a fan film, problematic if you try to copyright it or make money with it). And a C&D doesn't have any legal clout in any case, it's just a fancy warning letter.

It was a cool design, IMO. I really like Sean's work, but I understand his displeasure with this course of events. If they can get it off the ground, it will probably sell well. 1:350 is a good build scale.

the Ares is basically the only thing I liked visually about Axanar lmao

But the design also doesn't fit the time period (if you ignore Discovery), it has too many TOS Movie ship details on it, it feels like something that should come between TOS and TMP.

They showed the Connie in Prelude, and it didn't appear that they added any extra details to it to match the extra detail on the other pre-TOS Starfleet ships.

The Ages of the Federation Star Trek mod for Sins of a Solar Empire used to have the Ares, they did modify it to look more TOS-ish, though keeping the original Axanar nacelles. They replaced it with STO's Perseus-Class at some point..

Yes, it looks cool, but it's yet another thing in the whole Axanar project that doesn't make sense. Why would the Ares have TMP-style deflector and then the new Constitution go back to using a dish??? They just wanted to make thing "look cool" without bothering that it fit the overall TOS / pre-TOS look-&-feel.

It still looks better than the DSC season 1 ships.
Nah.

Which is ironic, because the whole thing started by people who claimed the 2009 film was an empty action movie that insulted the established Star Trek canon.

So they swindled fans into funding an amateur empty action fan film, that never happened.
Also some of the starfleet ship designs in Axanar were just ST09 designs with new nacelles. They even still had the viewscreen windows I think.
