Chris Columbus to direct Gremlins 3 for Christmas 2027

Would they risk doing a parody of January 6th with Gremlins invading the senate chamber?

Billy-Oh my god. Look at what they did to congress!

*Gremlins swinging from the ceiling.*

*A gremlin banging the gaval on another gremlins head*

Personally, I'd just have the main character vacationing for Christmas on a tropical island while a hurricane happens. Instant chaos.

I'd be way more excited if Joe Dante was returning.
Yeah. Gremlins 2: The New Batch is one of the greatest movies ever made and I doubt Columbus will be able to live up to it.

I don't know how this will turn out, but I'm prepared to give it ago. If they can tap into the real flavour of the originals then they can bring it to a new audience and turn away from the usual Hollywood blockbusters then it could be fun.

I would *hope* that they are real fans of the original and honour it.

Crap. Instant nightmare fuel. A beach( water)

“If one gremlin even gets a toe nail in that water it’s game over”

The director of 3 is the original writer of the first movie, so one would imagine he has some kind of connection to the material. ;)

Of course, in my opinion Dante was the real secret sauce of why the first two work. Columbus is a competent director, but we'll have to wait and see if he can bring the truly zany charm that Dante has.

Oof. A horrible thought...maybe this one won't even try to have the same tone as the first two. I can see this easily being one of those situations where "we don't want to alienate any potential audience" becomes mediocre slop.

Fingers crossed that's not the case at all. I hope for the best.
