Quinto returns as Spock!

How can I put this delicately? Quinto has clearly put on weight. Not judging or criticizing, fuck knows I'm not definition of slim and Quinto is still in better shape than me. But still, seeing him as Spock again (such as it is) that is the first thing I noticed.

I think it's mostly due to that '09 style uniform they've got him in. If anything, I think he's actually lost a little weight since 2016.

Mildly interesting that his Brilliant Minds co-star gets a Beyond uniform and he doesn't.

jj abraham the guy who created the alternate reality star trek movies
Which isn't his name. It's someone else's.

Look, I get that you just want to "Lol wut" your way around here, and you don't much care about making things more difficult than they need to be, but what most people are here for is communication.

And one way you could communicate more clearly and effectively than you have been to date is by making an effort to spell names correctly without being prompted repeatedly.

It's a small step, but it would be a start

quinto had weight in into darkness.

to be honest he still looks good. if they green light a trek 4 no double he will hit the gym and get into shape for the role

but nice to see him again it is almost ironic because quinto spock is closer to nimoy spock than peck who is now playing the role and I guess he is still the new spock mainstream media knows.

That’s hilarious. Dude looks awesome. He rocks that beard and he’s getting more handsome with age. As much as I like Ethan Peck, I wouldn’t mind watching Quinto as Spock one more time.
Quinto has technically been a better spock. Peck Spock is cute and may be fits the CW thing they were going for, but watching quinto here does remind you of why star trek 2009 worked and is still the best trek content we have for the 2000s

Paramount is unpredictable. it took them 30 years to make a top gun 2. i will always have hope for a trek 4 to wrap the kelvin gang up. I will say though that Chris Pine does look old now but that could work in his favour too. we have seen old man logan from xmen and Pete Mitchell from top gun come back older and wiser but still in a way in their prime.
Saldana, the woman does not age and still as gorgeous as ever.

the truth is that the kelvin cast can still work on film and capture a 4 quadrant audience if they make the film in the next 7 years.

For the context of that show - ordinary people wearing Hallowe'en costumes - it makes sense. Find a random group of people dressed in Trek uniforms in a bar on Hallowe'en and they'll be from a mix of shows and eras.

Hunh. From this I can only conclude that you and I have very different opinions about what constitutes good Trek content. For me, the '09 movie was entertaining and worth the ticket price, but it's not "Star Trek," it's "Star Wars with a Trek skin on it." That movie forgets the most important thing about Trek: hope, and the idea that we can make the world a better place if we only try.

In my view, while '09 isn't the worst Trek we've gotten this century, it still gets a failing grade. Whereas SNW, for me, is a very good TOS reboot; I give it an A- on the "being Trek" task and a B+ on the "being entertaining TV" task.

(Please note that I draw a distinction between "Is this good Star Trek" and "is this an entertaining movie/TV show." Many of the things labeled as Trek that fail to be good Star Trek are still very entertaining and well crafted media, they just forget the point of Trek and make a more standard action/adventure/war story. Likewise, many things that really lean into and capture the "we can make the world better and don't need to fight" themes aren't particularly good TV or movies.)

Anyway, these are just my opinions, not some sort of objective fact. If you like '09, then I'm glad it's there for you to enjoy, just as I'm glad SNW is there for me.

I don't see how that's true.

"You understand what the Federation is, don't you? It's important. It's a peacekeeping and humanitarian armada."
"We done?"
"I'm done. Riverside Shipyard. The shuttle for new recruits leaves tomorrow oh-eight hundred. You know, your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved eight hundred lives, including your mother's. And yours. I dare you to do better."

Kirk's arc is all about him becoming more than he was and reaching towards his potential. His values become center point, not just pleasure. He grows towards loyalty, leadership and learning. It's probably one of the best arcs in Trek in my humble opinion.
