Stranger Things was the first Netflix original series to become a pop culture phenomenon and branch out beyond the platform with Halloween costumes, toys and presence at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights en route to becoming a merchandising juggernaut. Netflix and the Duffer Brothers also successfully expanded the franchise to the stage with the award-winning play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which has had successful runs both in the West End and on Broadway.
Industry insider Kim Masters of Puck revealed that Netflix is spending between $50 to $60 million per episode for the fifth season, despite Season 5’s episode count being one episode less than Season 4’s. This puts the total cost of Season 5 between $400 and $480 million. The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, are said to be creating feature-length episodes once again, with each installment expected to run between 90 minutes and two hours.
Similarly, Maya Hawke said on a podcast that each episode would be two hours long. So, the showrunners could be lying. Of course, what they say could be true, but we'll see when it comes out.I'm pretty sure the Duffers have already debunked the rumors that every episode is going to be that long. I've heard of Newsbreak, so I don't know how much we can trust this story.
Yup, they have. Last night, I just happened to watch their Variety interview from last week and they specifically called out those rumors. They remarked episodes four and eight are long but didn't specify times.I'm pretty sure the Duffers have already debunked the rumors that every episode is going to be that long. It's the final season, I'm sure at least one major character will die before it's over. It seems to be a rule these days that you need at least one major death during the final season.
My girlfriend and I rewatched all four seasons over the course of five weekends and it didn't ever feel like work or exhausting. I loved every minute. You still have plenty of time to watch all of the seasons without being rushed.I need to think about a rematch again. Kind of dreading going through season 4 and those movie length episodes.
Now that you've reminded me, season 4 was a bit of a slog at times because of those runtimes. Letting things breathe can be a good thing, but at points it felt less like deliberate pacing and more padding.I still expect Eleven to die. She seems like a character that might want to die considering all she has been through.

I've always suspected Eleven to be one of the characters killed off in the final season, so her death would not be a shock (no matter how it happens). I'm hoping Lucas is not killed off (and playing into one of film fantasy's worst tropes), as it would be terrible for Max to be restored, only for Lucas to end up dead.I still expect Eleven to die.
