What are your Doctor Who hot takes?

DC might see a resurgence, depending on how the coming Superman does. Marvel might not be as dead as some like to say it is, but its heyday is definitely in the past.

Thread bump.

My 'hot take' is this: there were actually a number of good ideas in the "Leekley Bible" that could've made for a solid US remake of the series. The Doctor and The Master being half-brothers, The Master taking over Gallifrey, the spirit of Barusa existing in the TARDIS, and The Doctor looking for his father all work and are simple enough concepts for audiences to grasp, and if you throw in the character of Lizzie Travis (whom Leekley created for the series' Pilot) as a permanent Companion, you're 'golden' as far as giving audiences a surrogate to ask any questions that might not be clear.

I didn’t even mind the ‘Cybs’ concept to an extent.

The only one of these that I don't really like is the ghost of Borusa haunting the TARDIS. All the rest would have been just fine with me for an American reboot.

Barusa's spirit existing inside the TARDIS essentially gives The Doctor two Companions, which is why I think it works.

Barusa's presence also serves as an easy way to give The Doctor's quest some direction.

That reimagining and the reimagining of the Daleks are also really workable ideas (IMO).

I think the Cybs thing could have been done whilst keeping it in continuity with the old tbh. The Daleks I wasn’t so hot on, but in some ways I barely remember it, because I have never been that big on Daleks anyway. XD (sacrilege, I know)
