My expectations of Hawley are based on how Legion went down, but I'm not going to condemn Earth to not being in continuity with the movies until I absolutely have to.

So far we haven't had our "Charles Xavier fought Nazis in WWII" moment yet.

Hawley flat-out said that, despite not actually having the authority to do so, he's pretending that Prometheus and Alien: Covenant don't exist, which immediately and automatically puts Alien Earth at odds with the movies.

Even though Ridley Scott has a say, Disney definitely has the right to say on matters like canon.

I really doubt that there's anyone higher up on the production chain than Ridley Scott who cares about Canon, which is why I listed him as the ultimate authority on what narratively counts and what doesn't when it comes to the Alien Films specifically.

Hawley just doesnt have time for the black goo/David stuff, and that's fair enough, as it would add nothing to this story. It would probably be a distraction more than anything.

Even so, Prometheus contradicted AVP for the most part, but it won't stop me including it in a watch through. I don't think we have to pay attention to the company line, especially in this universe.

It was an okay episode, I like elements like Marrow and Squid Eye .. But the crew.. omg.. the crew was clown shoes.
I can forgive the original Alien in that the crew was basically "Space Truckers" in that they were just civilians running freight.
This? This is a travesty.. A "Hand Picked" Crew sent out for 65 years to pick up anything they find. The promethus crew were MIT Grads compared to these incompetents. Tsing? what use was he being awake? Scientist messing with the ticks? Moron. Doc? .. ugh..
It had good scenes but this show is suffering from Andor Disease.. Your concept doesnt fill the time, and your filler sucks.

Best things in this series is Squidward and Marrow.. all the other.. meh.

I always thought that most of the humans are very dumb in the alien movies. Like in Prometheus, a huge egg is folding open, lets put my head above it. Or a couple of episodes ago, Wendy being chased by a alien and running through a door. I almost screamed at the tv "close the door".

Until there is something that directly contradicts those movies it's not an issue for me.

The closest thing to a direct contraditon is the presence of a laval xeno inside a facehugger. Romulus established the facehuggers implant the black goo, which implies there isn't a "baby" xeno per se but rather mutated host tissue that forms the adult.

(Which I prefer, actually. It means the adult xenos are basically a really bizarre form of cancer.)

Ridley Scott.

Why him? He didn't create Alien. That was Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, He didn't write it, that was O'Bannon. IMDB doesn't give him any credits on Aliens, that was James Cameron's show. He wasn't involved with Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, or the Alien vs Predator movies. He's one of six credited producers (in addition to several executive and associate producers) on Alien Romulus. Why should Hawley worry about his opinion?

The franchise's "idea" rights belong to Ridley Scott,(More precisely, as far as I understand, after the Alien productions before 2010, Ridley Scott acquired the 'idea' rights of the franchise.) and anyone directing an Alien series or film must satisfy him. He's also the producer of that series and Alien Romulus. Neill Blomkamp also had an Alien 5 project that would erase the history of Alien 3 and 4. At least, until Ridley Scott waved his hand in a camera-focused environment and declared, "You can't make Alien!", Ridley Scott was on the fence about anyone but him making Alien. He's recently changed his mind.
