Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Cardassians largely seem to wear the same black military armor so Trek always assumes there's one culture for most planets.

I didnt know there was originally an idea for the Titan-A to have looked more modern and not just literally the Shangri-La with the sliders turned up barring nacelles.

This would have looked so much nicer but a hardcore constitution fan decided against it. It's true what they say fans don't always know what's good for them.

Fans are idiots some of the time

Not exactly a new problem. You had Arne Darvin, a Romulan spy impersonating a Vulcan ambassador, the whole Changeling infiltration. Pretty ongoing unfortunately.
And before that you had crazy admirals and parasite bugs, although the crazy admirals outnumber the alien threats that manage to get let in the front door. /s

And it would have been terribly easy for anyone to hack the transporter to not flag someone as Romulan.... If anything incoming transports would have flagged them as being suspect.

I dont think hacking is entirely necessary considering no one ever picked up on Simon Tarses being part Romulan and he never did anything other than fib on his application. A quick wave of a tricorder would pick it up at any time. Certainly pre Changeling infiltration at least everyone was very trusting.

Ahem, a Klingon impersonating a human actually. The Romulan impersonation a Vulcan was in TNG. I want to say T'Pel? Google confirms, it was the Romulan Selok disguised as the Vulcan T'Pel in "Data's Day."

being honest here. i was bored at season 1. skipped season 2 because people say its the worst. started season 3. wow. there was no need for me to watch season 1 either. whats the point of picard? each season is its own and only the third is watchable anyway, watchable. maybe. but pretty boring. there is something about the pace which i super slow and i'm tired of it.

I was just reminded that Season 1 implied Vulcan wasn't the original homeworld of the Vulcans

NAREK: Some say it dates back from long before our ancestors first arrived on Vulcan. The story of Ganmadan begins with two sisters, twin khalagu.

The sketch looks terrible; the ship appears to have no height, making it seem fragile, like a cookie to be broken. It doesn't even resemble the Millennium Falcon, the tough cookie, so there's no sense of safety. And it doesn't even remind me of the Defiant's design, which is supposed to be human-like. It feels more Romulan than anything else, and that's not a good look. Thank goodness they didn't go with it. Fans sometimes know what they want.

Regarding the series, I was hooked during season 1, but I was heartbroken about Dahj. If only she had lived, this could have been an amazing season. I can picture so many things they could have done with her and Soji. I could forgive them the "utopia was a lie" storyline for that, though it's hard. I don't like this NuTrek vibe; it feels like a betrayal by default. I didn't like new characters much, except for the androids and Altan.

Season 2 was a ridiculous mess. The only reasons I kept watching were Q's occasional appearances and the broken dynamics of the Soong family.

Season 3 was a breath of fresh air. I loved Jack Crusher, Riker, and Shaw. I wasn't even bothered by Rafi; she was so good. Though the "tag" of romance with Seven irked me a little—a reminder of season 2. The Borg plot felt overstretched, but at least it brought the crew back together after years apart. My joy at seeing them reunited was more engaging than the plot itself. Perhaps that's what matters most with a cast of this caliber and seven seasons of exceptional storytelling—it's hard to surpass such a legacy in a single season.
