Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

Are you privy to the conversations between CBS /Paramount and their show runners? For all we know they were absolutely prepared to end the show after season 4, but Goldsman might have begged them to give him some more episodes to satisfactorily end the series, and they were good enough to grant him that.

Don't forget Secret Hideout in all of this. I'm sure they had some say.

So could somebody with an ounce of sense please explain why a truncated fifth season isn’t an indicator that the show is being cancelled?
Paramount has decided that they won’t go beyond 5 seasons for a streaming series. They never said that the last season has to have 10 episodes at all. It can be any number they want, and AFAIK, Paramount would only greenlit less episodes instead of more for a season.

They’ve also decided that if they want to continue in a time period to just create a spinoff in that period.

This is becoming a semantic argument. In my opinion, I do not see this as a cancelation. But for those that are ardent it is, I have question for you. Season 4 and season 5 was recently renewed in advance. And season 5 's order was reduced. So.....hypothetically if they announced SNW has been renewed for another 4 seasons with a shortened 8th season wouks you still say the show has been "canceled "?

At the very least , this is not a pulling the plug on an underperformed show type of cancelation at all.

This is a cost containment measure.

P+ has said, "We're spending this much on SNW and not a penny more!"

I could ask you the same question. How do you know when they were "absolutely prepared to end the show"?

Because that’s what two other people here said. I’m assuming they knew what they were talking about.

Especially now since it's not ending with season 4 is it?

It’s ending with a truncated season 5. I have yet to hear a cogent response as to why something like that would not be considered a cancellation. But you know what? This horse is beaten and dead. Think whatever you like, I don’t really care anymore.

Then find something created by a human being. Drawn art, 3d modelled, I don't care, just something that isn't from the plagiarism machine.

AI exists. It can do things that I personally cannot.

There's no putting the genie back in the bottle.

None of the illustrations I found were giving me what I wanted.

It's a pattern recognition machine, probably one that works more similarly to the one in your head, in it's own narrow way, than most people are comfortable admitting. That's more of a commentary on the limitations of humans than the advancement of computers, by the way.

I'll find human made art or post nothing at all is my stance.

AI Art is an abomination and is stealing jobs from real artists

As Danja said not all of us have the ability to make things we want. We don't all have the skills or equipment necessary. For some ai is a necessary tool for a creative outlet, imperfect as it is right now.

And many of us cant afford the prices artists online charge for images and this is especially not worth it for a little joke.

It's a bit unfair to suggest that people not express themselves creatively at all.

Then find existing human made art. It's not that hard, I didn't say anything about commissioning custom art. There's surely existing similar art out there.

When that creativity steals from other people it's wrong.

So I have a choice between using AI (stealing) or swiping a human-made piece (also stealing).

The pieces I found weren't giving me what I wanted.

Not always. Absolutely not always. I might have a very very specific idea in my head. Who am I stealing from if I were to use AI to bring that vision to life?

Not every AI generator is going to just lift someone else's work and if said work provided what was required then that would be used. Is that the assumption you're under?

As Danja said posting other people's works here is hardly different to stealing. I defy you to find anyone who waits for written permission before posting a picture and shares a link to every single artist/editors profiles along with it.

Now if I were a multimillion corporation using AI then yes I am depriving artists of work. But the technology is not capable of that yet. And I am but a man on minimum wage with no artistic abilities of my own.

Took me less than 30 seconds to find a cat using a calculator image on google that wasn't AI generated.

I didn't WANT just ANY image.

I had something specific in mind (nothing about that photo particularly screams "accountant").

You think I didn't look?

ETA: I did a reverse image lookup. That photo has appeared on Pinterest, Facebook, and cuteness.com.

You swiped it from Google from people who swiped it from God-knows-where.

Thank you for proving my point.

Say what you will about my AI cat -- at least it hasn't been posted to a zillion other places.
