If you're intending to check out all the versions of Khan's time on Ceti Alpha V, you should also track down the IDW miniseries Khan: Ruling in Hell, written by Scott and David Tipton, with art by Fabio Montovani. That's a great star to the cast, and awesome writers, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Now I guess I need to get working on To Reign in Hell and Ruling in Hell, so I can compare the different versions of Prime Khan's time on Ceti Alpha V.
I loved those. Wasn't one of those written by Peter David under a pseudonym?I love it that, though this is billed as a Khan audio series, it's also a stealth revival of the Captain Sulu Adventures audiobooks from back in the days of cassette tapes.
So I guess that answers that question... the "podcast" is just a regular audio dramatization, and it's just the delivery method that makes it different? I would guess it's because podcasts are the new "it" thing?

I haven't been following any news on it, so I didn't realize (or just forgot?) that George Takei and Tim Russ were involved.

Exactly. Methinks people tend to forget/don't realize where the pod in podcasting comes from. Also, podcasts have been around since 2004, they’re as old as TOS was when TNG came out, not exactly the hip thing.
This was the first mention of them, AFAIK. So yeah, a continuation of the Captain Sulu Adventures! I guess they will come up with an in-universe reason for Captain Sulu not mentioning events re Khan that happened before ST II?
Early drafts were written by Peter David, who requested that he remain uncredited when he was dissatisfied with a rewrite (credited to JJ Molloy) to exaggerate the sound effects for the promoted new "3D sound".
How many will there be, and what length will each one have?
Rather, Peter was credited under the pseudonym J.J. Molloy.
According to the link I found before, there is an author of at least one other Simon & Schuster writing project ("A Visual History of World Military Machines") on which a JJ Molloy was a writer, which made me think that this person was the S&S writer employed to beef up PAD's "Caccophony" audio script.
Except Amazon says the book was published by Fox Chapel Publishing in 2023, 29 years after Cacophony came out. The name is probably a coincidence. (My own book lists on places like Amazon and Goodreads sometimes mistakenly include books by other Christopher Bennetts.) Every source I can find says that "Molloy" was Peter's pseudonym.
Most of the scripted podcasts I've listened to so far, Marvel's Wolverine, Marvel's Wastelanders, Batman The Audio Adventures, Into The TARDIS and Bridgewater, seem to average around half an hour.Apparently nine episodes, releasing weekly beginning September 8. No idea about the length, sorry.
