I decided to share this here. I wanted to say how disgusting the harassment in Hollywood is.
Note, this is not new information. Well, part of it was at the time of that tweet, but that's close to a year ago. The quotes out of context also make it sound like she claims to be a victim of heavy and continual harrassment, when the actual interview makes it clear that she refers to two incidents of inappropriate touching, ten years apart, and she didn't want to go into detail or name the men in question. It is more about the experiences she heard about from her contemporaries and some instances of inappropriate comments.

Although, of course, it is still important to talk about this. I just don't think Winona's comments are the best catalyst for this discussion, especially since she noted that her fame may have actually protected her from the kind of abuse others experienced. In fact, it was rather a small part of the interview those quotes came from, and the press had reduced it basically to this topic, because of the sensational nature of it.

It appears that tracking for Superman has increased some in the last twenty-four hours, which is frequently the case when reviews for a movie start to hit.

Interestingly enough, it happens to some extent even when reviews are not good - the headlines simply serve to remind or alert potential ticket-buyers that the film is out there.

Of course, it works better when the movie is as well-liked as this one is.

The Snyder fans under this tweet really drive me crazy sometimes.

This also applies to those idiots who are fanatics of any company and try to discredit the business of another rival company and want them to fail.

Meh. the diehard Snyderoids are written out of the book of life, at this point.

Here's what they'll likely be reduced to in the next week or so:

  • Posting still frames of effects imagery in an attempt to mock the overall quality of the film;
  • Inventing fake moral outrage over the background of some performer, the "problematic" treatment of some issue or the portrayal of some character based on ethnicity; and
  • Quibbling over points of WB's financial internals that they know nothing about, in an effort to prove that Superman's performance is "worrisome" and presages bad things for the producers and DC Studios officers.

Also a lot of "Nepo this and "Nepo that." Empty jargon and buzzwords.

And when all of that utterly fails to matter in any way, they'll resort to calling the director a pedophile. They already have.

They’ve easily spent another $100 million on promotion.

If the old 2.5 times budget is applicable, the number would be $812.5 million to be profitable.

I hope it is entertaining. Everything after that is gravy.
I'm not committed yet*, but I'm really leaning towards seeing Superman in the theater. Everything I've seen and read suggests something magical.

It would be my first movie theater experience since before the pandemic. There are many films I've passed on that I wouldn't have, pre-pandemic.** Baby steps.

* - multiple meaning? :shrug:
** - so to speak!

I'll let others make the more authoritative determination, but my assumption is that box office numbers remain low for two reasons, the rise of streaming and stay-at-home behavior adopted by the masses because of the pandemic; these factors aren't unrelated of course.

It is a tough market. I truly don't know what the number would be for them to not make a sequel. The number of projects either filmed, greenlit or renewed, makes me think Superman would have to tank really hard to have an overall effect on the future.

There will be many people who claim that Isabela Merced is a Nepo Baby and that is why she has been involved in such popular works lately.

So, since its budget is $300 million, including advertising, it needs to make $700 million. This translates to a profit of $100 million.

If you're using the 2.5 formula, it would need to make $750 million to be profitable.
