Playmates Toys

Perhaps they were told that golden particles were part of the makeup (I vaguely remember reading that) and that's what they tried to replicate.
Apparently there were 5 versions: regular white, with small specks, with large specks, brown with specks, and blueish white. The blueish one seems to be the rarest, otherwise I didn't find any more info on those.

More Trek Funkos on the way. A bit surprised they aren’t doing both Kirk and Spock from Amok Time. The Quark is also kinda nightmare fuel.

I dare them to make this:

Found this amazing DST Worf for $10

I dunno, for the most part I think the DST faces are pretty on target. But like most lines, some sculpts are better than others. Bashir in the DS9 line for example is not great. But the others are fine.

10 bucks for a loose DST figure is pretty good. I don’t think you can even get that deal on eBay outside the Enterprise line.

I gotta think had the license not expired Kurn would have eventually gotten a figure but probably in the TNG line. He does seem like a prime candidate for Nacelle though.

I can just never forget seeing Beverly and Ogawa from DST :D
Their Kirk face is also not as accurate as Mego's or PM's somehow.
But I got this one for the costume, intricate details and the price. He can be a generic Klingon too ;)

I don’t think there’s ever really been a good Kirk face, there are just “better”. Seems like Shatner is near impossible to translate from real life to toy.

A decent Picard headsculpt has always been tricky, at an affordable cost. DST was a bit butch, McFarlane was scary but I think Super7 did OK.

The bigger PM Picard (6 inch from FC, reused for the fencing action one, perhaps also for the space talk one) and the newest one from a few years ago were pretty good

Yeah, there is something just a bit off about the regular DST Picard, it’s still pretty good though. Much better than the Art Asylum/Nemesis Picard.

I forgot about the McFarlane figures. It’s still off but that might be the best Kirk headsculpt.

That Mcfarlane Kirk is something special. I wish they had a chance to make more.
