I don't see why the Trek universe was afraid of augments like Prime Khan, he was beaten three times by non augmented people.
So much for superior intellect.
I think the bigger problem was a lesson from history: that a group of these supermen tried to overthrow legitimate government.
Probably.Could they really do any worse?![]()
You do know that every bottom of the barrel has a basement, right?Could they really do any worse?![]()
And within three or four years were overthrown, with 84 chased into exile. Even the Third Reich lasted longer than the Augments' empires.I think the bigger problem was a lesson from history: that a group of these supermen tried to overthrow legitimate government.
I have also noticed that all the old Star Trek show clips upon the interweb are slowly being replaced by Nu-Trek. I had to search really long and hard for this video, where as in my youth it would have been one of the first ‘go to’ search results.I think the bigger problem was a lesson from history: that a group of these supermen tried to overthrow legitimate government.
Speaking of controversial Trek opinions and Khan...
World War III and the Eugenics Wars are one and the same. TOS, the original source material, made that plain and clear. Any later attempt to retcon it otherwise not withstanding.
Exactly. We are not Thermians (well, most of us aren't) and these are not historical documents.Long-running fiction, including Trek, gets retconned all the time and…that’s ok.
I get emotional from both for different reasons.I have also noticed that all the old Star Trek show clips upon the interweb are slowly being replaced by Nu-Trek. I had to search really long and hard for this video, where as in my youth it would have been one of the first ‘go to’ search results.
For comparison, using the same search parameters this is the top result:
It’s almost like I have slipped into a parallel universe, or an alternate future where the interweb has become somewhat distorted?!
Also…
I do not think that this is either very clever nor creative, here is the original source material.
Can you notice the difference in production quality, emotional direction and general other stuff that are important whilst making a good movie?
Exactly. We are not Thermians (well, most of us aren't) and these are not historical documents.
I would say it's less a capture of society, but rather the self-impression of the society. It's just as interesting from an anthropological perspective, but less truthful than watching an old documentary or newsreel footage. In a way, they are historical documents. They capture society at the time they were made.
