It's real faint around the edge of it, and of course it's got some people expecting a certain red character who's name starts with M to show up in it.
I'm curious if the show is going to eventually introduce her more streamlined pink and black suit that she's used for most of her comics.

How many days out did reviews drop for Secret Invasion?
Edit: seems it was a week out. Though The Marvels was the day before. Echo apparently only dropped day of.

Means nothing to me. I loved The Marvels and Echo, regardless of what reviewers thought.
When a review embargo gets lifted means absolutely nothing.
Seems reviews are mixed, but there's a general consensus the series has a very slow start, but an amazing finale.
May be yet another of the Disney+ miniseries which would have been better off cut down to a theatrical release length.
That would explain the release schedule as well. Get that amazing finale out there before people lose interest.
I think it also says something that Disney sent along all six episodes to the reviewers. They seem to realize the payoff is the only thing that will make it worthwhile to some, and reviews would be decidedly more mediocre if they just gave advanced copies of the first three (or whatever).
One of these days, people will stop complaining about "slow starts" when that's the best way to tell a story in long form.
Not only am I fine with slow starts, I welcome them. I want the show to take its time in present the characters and their respective stories before building up to the main thrust of the overall plot.

Just saw the first episode....will be trying to get my wife caught up before we do the next 2
My girls, age 14 and 20, weren't super impressed, especially with the acting.
As someone who has lived on the South Side for nearly 20 years, and north side for 10...
Some authentic stuff here... not the "trendy" stuff like Peaqod's in Apple's Dark Matter (which somehow, you can casually get a pizza there and not wait 2-3 hours for it)
I don't think there are a lot of CHicago people here, so i hope these won't be spoilers but a couple things:

- Brown SUgar Bakery on 75th street (which we visited a lot, until they raised the prices during and after Covid), and turning the corner at the barber shop
- Housing that is NOT the projects, but authentically where some on the Black South Side actually live
- Working class jobs
- A Cash only shop (usually i have only seen it for fast-ish food restaurants, but that "feels real")
I don't like the whole getting into crime deal, though i guess she's been doing white collar crime for a while now, so....

Yes it does. If they had let entertainment news sites review the series a month before it airs and they all thought it was terrible then that would seep into the fan base. It would have soured the reception before it premiered
With the gap between release date and reviews so close it doesn't allow all the entertainment websites time to either praise or trash talk it.
A long time ago some movie studios even backed out of comic-con because they were worried the bad reaction at a comic-con would sow the seeds of doubt and disdain very early and in turn put people off from seeing the movie.
Watched all three episodes and I love everything about it.
I particularly love how the show handles Riri struggling with the trauma of losing both her mentor stepfather and best friend in a real and honest manner. She's in bad place trying to cope with her post-traumatic stress and throwing herself into her iron suit projects can bury those issues for only so long. The mere fact that the AI, which Riri accidentally created with Natalie's personality and memories, is the only person close enough to Riri to help her deal with her panic attacks demonstrates the poor state of her mental health. I really hope the the back half of the season continues to address these core issues in a positive and sensitive manner and doesn't try to resolve them quickly.
I'm also loving The Hood, his crew, and their attacks on the wealthy elite. Their group dynamics are a lot of fun and I'm eager to learn Parker's true motives behind these heists. I only know the very basics of The Hood (entirely from the mobile game Contest of Champions) so I'm entirely in the dark on what's coming (although I know enough to chuckle at the "I don't think he's a lizard person" comment). I thought at the tail end of the third episode they would reveal his master, at long last, as Mephisto, but I guess we'll have to wait another week to see if that's true.
Speaking of reveals, going into this show I had been curious about Ehrenreich's character and how he didn't appear to be a preexisting character, which seemed odd considering Riri has a solid supporting cast...and then, lo and behold, he's Obadiah's son! But of course. The MCU has been mining the early years so I'm thrilled to see this revelation and I particularly like how Zeke fits into this story in contrast to Riri's loose connection with Stark. According to Wikipedia, he's a relatively knew character in the comics and a villain to boot, so I'm interested to see how the show develops the character...especially in light of Riri's broken promise coupled with her empowering him to stand up for himself.

I didn't have a chance to watch any of it today and I probably won't tomorrow either, but then I plan on sitting down and watching all three episodes in one sitting.
