I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner. It felt like they didn't miss a beat. I think this is a great format for them.
and probably beats doing laundry detergent ads.
I was sad to see them do that, pretending to be doing "science" to sell detergent. Science is about gathering data without bias. They really sold out.
Or had bills to pay. None of the stars of that show get any residuals. I don't blame them for cashing in.
It's the way they did it that bothers me. Mythbusters taught a lot about critical thinking and the scientific method, about questioning the claims people make. Advertising is the opposite of that. I just feel it trivialized what the Mythbusters stood for.

According to John Russo in the 'Night of the Living Dead Scrapbook', Latent Image poured all their money into this commercial, hoping for nationwide exposure for their advertising firm in Pittsburg; only for the ad to air once, before Calgon decided to go in a different direction.
