Loved it. But I felt the first 30 min which was full of flashbacks and callbacks to the previous movies didn't really add to the movie, and felt like it slowed it down. That kind of stuff would have been better off in an extended edition. I felt much better about the movie when it kicked into the actual story.

Oh, one question... correct me if I'm wrong, but the movie didn't even bother to give an explanation for why that torpedo tube opened, right? I may be a Navy veteran, but I wasn't a submariner, so I'm not certain about this, but I don't think torpedo shafts have an internal button wherein they'll open up to the ocean if a person happens to find themselves stuck in one? And he didn't do anything to set up the shaft opening, right? It was pure and shameless plot magic that he didn't just get stuck and drown in there? :p

Soooo... would anyone else like to have a crack at this one? :p

It struck me as a particularly movie-like thing to do be doing, ie it's done in the service to the plot rather than making any logical sense.

^ Even if it wasn't realistic, I would have accepted him pushing a few buttons, thus starting a short countdown. It would have taken five, maybe seconds in a sequence that definitely could have made up that time elsewhere.

Wait. What?! We’re expecting realism in Mission Impossible movies? Really? Does a helicopter tethered to a train in the Chunnel not ring any bells?

It rings the bell of "I hated that stupid sequence"... :p
